  1. Although compesation is trending toward a more positive level, I think everyone will agree that it is still too low for the duties we are asked to perform and the increased workload we have due to budget cuts and staff reduction. I don't want expect to become rich as an RN, just to be fairly compensated.
  2. As professionals in the operating room, we as nurses should make every attempt to preserve patient dignity and modesty. At our hospital, we keep the patient covered until it is time for the surgical prep. Although our patients accept the fact that complete modesty is not possible, they put their trust in us to see that it is taken care of for them in a professional manner.
  3. I wear croc's. I've been working in the O.R. for about 14 years and so far the croc's are the best shoes i have owned. They are easy to clean after a bad surgical case. A sale rep. recently told me that OSHA was banning the wearing of croc's in the O.R. does anyone know if this is true? I haven't done the research yet.
