  1. I was working a late shift one day. I was busy handing out medications in a four bed room when one of the patients relative told me that I was late giving the medication out. She had been looking in the patients chart. I gently told her through gritted teeth that I was giving the medication when the patient had eaten his meal. She then proceded to tell me that she was a nurse herself. Has this happened to anyone else I would love to hear about it. Kind regards.:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire
  2. Tina we do not do the NCLEX test here in Australia. I have never even heard of it before I came here. I just graduated from University and got a job on a transition program, no more tests. Hope this helps
  3. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and justed wanted to say hello to everyone. I work in a rehabilition unit in a teaching hospital. I am a registered nurse and finished my degree about 3 years ago. My past experience has been medical/surgical nursing. I am really glad to have moved over to rehabilitation because it is so rewarding to see people improve and then move on with their lives. On our ward we also look after acute strokes and medical outlies. The only thing that upsets me is that some nurses from the other wards thinks that our ward is a dumping ground just for the elderly and that we are not really nursing in the way that they do. I just want to know if any of you out there have this experience or am I being over sensative? I would appreciate any imput kind regards :penguin: :monkeydance:
  4. Hi there, I love doing nightshifts because there is plenty of time to go through the charts, in that way you get to really know the patients. I normally look after 16 patients. I am in a 30 bed ward which takes care of Acute stroke, Medical outlies and rehabilitation pts. There is always another RN with me or either a EN (LPN) or a AIN (CN) I have requested to do more night duty that is how much I love it.
  5. Hello, I am a RN and I live in Australia and I am unfamiliar with the various levels of nursing in America which makes it hard when I read a thread. If anyone could help me I would appreciated very much. feeling confused.
  6. hi there I know how you feel about staffing levels. It was not that long ago when I was a new grad RN working on a busy neurological ward. I felt so out of control at times simply because there was not enough nurses. We used trend care a system which works out how many hours a total patient load will be. When I looked up at the trends I used to be horrified that I would often get 16 hours of work to do in a 8 hour shift with only an EN working with me. I understand how you must feel. When I finished my graduate year I left there and did some agency work until I found a area that I liked. I am now in rehabilitation working for another hospital and I love it. I am amazed of how far I have come since finishing my degree and becoming a RN and yes even on this ward I still get busy for instance it is not unusal to have 15 patients to one RN and a AIN which I presume you would call a LPN and an EN but I love it anyway. All I can say to you is hang in there get your experience which will be good for your references, maybe cut back on your hours and do some agency work. I wish you well but remember never give up and keep smilling even throught the tough times. kind regards

I love rehabillitation nursing also. I have a surgical background and I am a Registered nurse and have only been working in the Rehab section for about 10 weeks. We specialize in Stroke rehabilitation mainly. It is very different to what I am used to doing but I love it anyway. If anyone has got some good links to rehabilitation nursing I would love to hear from you. bye bye meme39
