Did you keep your nursing books?
I kept a few that interested me - sold many of them at Half.com for decent prices for 2 years after that. Once too old, though, no one wants them - gave away to library and Goodwill for tax deductions. Nursing school would also take them for reference copies. Unfortunately, the year after I graduated, they changed all the books, so couldn't pass them on to another student.

The First Days of Nursing School by the Fall 2009ers!!!
Congrats to all the newbies. As a recent graduate, I remember the excitement of those first days. Let me offer a few tips - you can get some textbooks at a considerable discount from Half.com if you are lucky and order as early as possible. I also got 10% off from Barnes and Noble online as well as occasional coupons for an additional 10% off. Their annual fee paid for itself in 1 quarter. School bookstores were always more expensive. Get some kind of planner for assignments - I used Student 4.0 on my Palm, which let me key in all assignments, projects, readings, and keep track of my grades in every class. Lots more, but enough for now. Good luck to all.

Is 26 too old to go back to school?
I graduated with an RN associate degree at the ripe young age of 60 and had no previous health care experience. But I did have life and work experience that served me well in school and now on the job. Best of luck.

nclex anxiety
:studyowl:I did Kaplan and found the introductory pages on how to read and interpret questions more helpful than the tests. I also did the Saunders review (not the QA book) and found that to be the best in terms of background info I was missing. I did not think the questions on the NCLEX were represented by either book. The content was a lot of stuff I had never come across, but I tried to apply the Kaplan suggestions and it must have worked because I got kicked out at the minimum # of questions. Good luck. Be sure to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast (avoid coffee or anything that will make you need to go to the bathroom every half hour) and keep telling yourself to relax. You have been preparing for this for months.
