Immigration Help
Hi, I am a Canadian nurse who is looking for information from people who have applied for and received Green Cards. I will soon be applying for a Green Card from within the US (i.e., the "Adjustment of Status" way of applying for a Green Card). I have two options for this - one is to have my current travel company as my sponsor, the other is to have take a position with a hospital who is willing to sponsor me. Does anyone know how quickly this process takes? Does it make a difference as to who the sponsor is? I know that there are different Green Card processing centers in the US, does anyone know which is the fastest? I'm in Hawaii currently... Also, is a person bound to the sponsor legally until the Green Card arrives, or can he/she work for other companies? I have a feeling that the answer to this question is no, but thought I'd put it out there anyway. Not that I think this is a problem necessarily, but if it takes 3 years to receive a Green Card I would want to know that I'm working for a good place!! Any help that anyone can give would be great! I'd love to hear from people regarding their own experiences, or any knowledge they have to share at all... Thanks!

How do your significant others handle it?
I've done two travel assignments while my husband has been at home... this most recent assignment he came and visited me for about a month - but I do agree with others, the separation is horrible, and I will not be travelling alone again. We have been married almost 10 years, and I think the separation is even more difficult because we are so happy and comfortable being around each other. I can't sleep when I'm away from him!! Which is why I am looking at filing for the Green Card (I am Canadian), so that we can travel easily and my husband can travel as well. With both of us as travellers, nothing can stop us!!!!

Seeking information on Green Cards

I am concerned about all of this because the whole Retrogression thing was just lifted, and worry that by the time I have filed, it will be back in place, and my hubby and I will be stuck in line, and he will not be able to work because he will not have received his work authorization. Also, is a person bound to the sponsor legally until the Green Card arrives, or can he/she work for other companies? I have a feeling that the answer to this question is no, but thought I'd put it out there anyway. I was offered a position in the Moffitt Long Operating Room, and I have to say, everyone that I've spoken with has been absolutely awesome - prompt, professional, thorough, and very welcoming!! How was your experience?

Please help - I need to make a decision!
Hi everyone, I am an OR nurse and I have been offered two jobs - one at the Kapi'olani Women's and Children's Hospital in Honolulu, and the other at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. I am having a terrible time making a decision, since each job and each place offers it's own pros and cons. I was wondering if anyone has worked in either (or hopefully both) of these places, and has any insights to offer. I need to make a decision soon, since I don't want to keep either employer hanging. Please help if you can, and thanks!!
