Hi I'm a BS Nursing grad back in 2003 in the Philippines... I Just got here In U.S.A last Sept 2007 got married and now have Legal documents to work anywhere issues by Department of Homeland Security. Back in the Philippines a never had any exposure in the hospital after i finished studying so that means i don't have any experience at all. I really want to go back on track with my career as a nurse. Question is, what will be the best thing to do to get started. I've been trying to apply for any kind of job inside hospital or any clinic but having a hard time. I don't have plan to take the State board yet, i want to have an exposure to any clinical set-up to refresh up. What kind of position or job title i will look for when i apply for a job. I'm located here in Louisville, Kentucky. Dunno exactly my chances here. Please Advice, I will highly appreciate it. -MeL

Hi! its me.. i just need help from people who experience a fiance visa the reason why i'm asking this is beacause i cannot work in Kentucky as a nurse not unless i'm there and go to the next step.... first thing is i need some info whre should we file for the application for fiance visa is it here in the Philippines or in US? (i'm a Filipina and my fiance is an American) . We aare hearing different stories abt it maybe you can help... Thank you in Advance.. MeL

I talked to Ruby King from Kentucky Board of Nursing few days ago over the phone and ask additional question through e-mail---- i did ask if i can still work as a nurse in some hospital frm Louisville without any local license? she said "Before you are allowed to work in the United States as a nurse, you must obtain the VisaScreen Certificate from CGFNS. Some of the hospitals and facilities here will allow you to work as a nurse aide to get acclimated. Once you receive your VisaScreen Certificate, I can issue a Provisional License which will allow you to work as a Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA) until you pass NCLEX."

i see... coz most filipinos are under the impression of taking the local board eventhough they will not actually work here and before going to the next step like working abroad... what's the max amount it willl cost me for the visa screen/cgfns exam if i take it in ky?

is there any difference if i took the local board exam or not? or its like i'm gonna start from scratch if i go to KY? like take some exams there and it will disregard my local license:rolleyes: another thing is my answer is nope i'm not planning to work here but instead it will be in KY.

I'm planning to take my Local Board exam this coming Dec. 2 and 3 of 2006 I'm hoping to pass the axam but i'm checking my options if it goes the other way around.

Hi! everybody i just have a question about being a nurse at Louisville KY I'm currently here in the Philippines. I haven't pass my Local Board exam here but trying my best to pass. My question is... by any chance , just in case i wasn't able to make it - passing the local board exam here. Can i still work as a nurse in KY eventhough i wasn't able to pass my local here ? and what are my options... The reason why i'm asking this is because my boyfriend is planning to do a fiance visa, get married and build our dreams there. Please help.. i really need information in regards to this concern.
