med errors as an np
I think in you should find out what your practice protocol is for med errors or your supervising MD. You will find that research shows that most lawsuits can be avoided when providers listen, validate pateint's concerns, and are honest concerning their care. I'm not sure if your asking about med errors concerning writing the wrong quantity on a presciption or something like prescibing the wrong medication. I think you should look at it like nursing and how it was resolved. Everyone is human, no one is perfect, people may act like they never did anything wrong but believe they did, its a learning curve. I would suggest speaking with your supervising MD.

Who pays?
Thank you, I just wasn't sure. When I mention it to the MD who wanted to interview me she paused then said she had to discuss it with her partner and get back to me. So I wasn't sure if it is appropriate for me to ask. Thanks so much.

Who pays?
I have a question and I hope someone can please help me answer? Because being a new fnp graduate I'm just not sure. Should the employer pay for hotel or travel arrangements for interview if out of state from where you live? Or is it the interviewer's responsibility to get there? I'm having different people tell me different things so I'm so unsure. I have an interview for a potential job but its in several states away. They seem eager to interview me being a new graduate but its definitely to far to drive and they want to see me rather quickly. So what is the most appropriate thing to do? PLEASE HELP

Taking aanp FNP???
Thanks SheriStudentFNP. The website is www.apea.com (Advanced Practice Education Associates). Amelie is the FNP owner who does the review courses around the country. Her review course is really good. I used Fitgerald as a review of the material because her stuff is quite long and can be overwhelming when you trying to study for the boards. Amelie's items are clear cut and to the point which help alot when it came to answering questions. I was just trying to answer as many questions as possible. I know how you feel because I was so nervous but you will do just fine. Its going to seem like you don't know anything when you take it cause how the questions are asked and its going to seem so long but remember you do know the information. The ANCC gives you a print out of results when you finish but the AANP just puts the results on the screen. Hopefully, they'll sent me the certificate in the next few weeks. Thats hopefullly:bow: so i can submit my application to the state board of nursing.

Taking aanp FNP???
I just took my AANP FNP exam yesterday and passed. I was so nervous but I did pass. I mostly used Amelie book and took the online questions on her site. I paid for at least 3 of the online exams (online bank, 2 practice exams, the the mock exam) but i paid off in the end. THANK GOD:>

Job Satisfaction of NPs
np20020, I agree whole heartly with your statements of dealing with administration/management. I'm doing a travel assignment at correctional facility now near my home that thank god ends soon. The money is really nice but I couldn't imagine doing this for years to come. I would like to be able to affect the outcome of patients by my own diagnoses/treatments not continue on this road of convincing md's/pa's a better treatment regiment which they could figure out if they just listen to the complaints of the patient. But I'm just a plain nurse in their eyes who really don't know much just there. The school I'm attending in the fall as FNP and Family Mental Health NP. I was interested in the Mental health program also but is it better to get FNP then go back for mental health? It's like 4 classes more with the mental health plus residency.

Job Satisfaction of NPs
I'm glad to hear your very happy as NP. I'm curious also to what area are you practicing? I'm starting FNP school this fall and I feel your explanation is quite good and encouraging. I'm an experienced nurse worked in various setting (med-surg, telemetry, ER, home health) and Nurse Practitioner was always my ultimate goal. I have friends who tell me it isn't worth the time to go for nurse practitioner because you can make more on the floor and they don't want that responsiblity. To me, that's a matter of preference and the individual person. It takes responsiblity to care for patients but as I look at it a nurse practitioner is not just able to care for the patient but treat/diagnose them.
