  1. I appreciate that very much! thank you :)
  2. Hey all!!! Ok, I'm going to be in my last sememster of nursing school and they made us take the ERI which is a test (practice for the NCLEX I guess in their eyes) and if we don't pass we drop a letter grade in our clinicals. Well, we have to take a pharmacology ERI next week and that is def. my weakest part so far considering I usually don't have a lot of meds to give and if I do they are easy ones. I was wondering if y'all could post some of the more important medications and some of the medication questions they like to ask on the NCLEX. I am good with the math, but I just need help with some of the medicines. Any meds. that they like to use on these test would be greatly appreciated! Thanks y'all!! :)
  3. yea...i've heard both, but the bleeding doesn't really effect me. mostly i hear the bleeding a lot after giving birth, but I dunno.
  4. i heard, by several people, that red-heads tend to bleed more. i know it's true, but does anyone know why?? kinda strange that hair color can make a difference like that.
  5. wow...thanks so much, that was wonderful!!! i hate these stupid care plans but i understand why we have to do them so much
  6. My pt. this week had normal F&E except for his Ca because he was in ARF, he had SOME drainage on his drsg. but not much..so I didnt' know whether he had any F&E problem to put on my careplan or not...I think everything was in the past but I'm not sure b/c Ca is still low. Also he didn't have any problem with elimination but he is getting U/A's because he was in ARF and has a hx of hematuria...nothing was wrong while i was there but in the past few days there has been a lot, but they fixed it all...so I was confused here...the only elimination problems i know are b/c of inconteince, retention, etc...nothing about what i had. soo needless to say i'm confused....F&E on my careplans is NEVER an easy thing for me... Please help, if you can!! THankssss :)
  7. thanks!!! that explains it perfectly :) I hope you did good on your test, it sounds like you should have!
  8. Why is it typical in renal failure for the Ca levels to be low but not any other electrolytes?? I can't seem to find anywhere how they are related, I know the tubules absorb and reabsorb, but I just don't understand why Ca would be low. Help please!!!??
  9. Thanks guys!! A lot of y'all said stuff that calmed my nerves!! I talked to my teacher and she said it was ok as long as I get a note from the dr. that said that I am not contagious. It's kinda crazy how strict they are in school because she was like if you miss again there is no excuse you can't make it up and you have to w/draw from the course. I'm like ***??!! she goes it wouldn't be because of academics but because of health reasons so keep the paperwork im like okk y'all can't like have SOMETHING that would help people out, it's not our freakin faults we get sick! It made me wonder for a profession that's all about caring they surley don't care if you get sick, but they def. care if you get sick and miss a clinical. I get the point that you have to have so many hours and you have to get good experience but they need to make more arrangements incase stuff like that happens. I wound up crying when talking to her and she was completely nice about it but acted like of course other students have cried and ok it was expected for me to do that. i'm like uhm ok!!! she was really sweet about it all but it just got me wondering ya know!! thanks y'all again!!! :) i

  11. Hey y'all ok i have a little problem... i got pus on my tonsils a few weeks ago, went to the infirmary and took amoxicillin and it went away, no big deal. well it came back and i went the the aftercare place by my house and they did a culture and said i had strep. they gave me 2 shots and i got my note to miss clincials last week and my teacher was ok with it. she said that if i miss another clinical that i have to withdraw b/c there is only one makeup clinical day at the end of the semester. well i went to the ent on thurs. and he said let me check you for mono b/c your lymph's and throat still look pretty bad for getting 2 shots on tues. i'm like okkkk...go get blood work and sure enough he calls me friday and tells me i have mono, i'm about a week and a half into it. well he gave me some med. and i started yesterday, it's like 6 pills a day, it's crazy! so i have to tell my teacher i have it. i feel fine i just get tired a lot and my tonsils look beautiful now. the dr. said i'm not contagious any more and people only can get it if they get in touch with my salvia. but he said it was kinda ify about the surgery unit that we are on. do y'all think it would be ok if i wore a mask during my clinical?? i mean i'm ok just have about a week and a half left or so but i know it's a huge deal for pts. to get it and i was just wondering if y'all think a mask and gloves would be ok with my teacher, ya think?? im so scared that she's going to say i can't go at all and i'll have to withdraw and i CAN'T do that! school has been my life for the past 4 years and I don't know what i would do, i just can't i worked too hard. i guess i'm jsut asking y'all opinion on if it's ok to use just a mask and gloves and i can still do my clinical? give me opinions please!! i've been like freakin all weekend! Thanks! :)
  12. Hey! Today was my first pre-clinical day and I got my pt. and everything and my teacher asked me to look up why they are watching my pt. HCT level, well she just had a TKA and so I got that answer but what I don't understand is if the level goes below 25 they give 2 units of PRBC but b/t the units they give 10mg of Lasix. I can't find out anywhere why I am giving the lasix besides knowing the obvious of it flusing out fluid. Is that the right answer or is there something deeper that I am not seeing?? Is it because there is more hemoglobin and it's trying to flush out some of that, I have no idea!! Any info. would be so helpful!!! Thanks! :)
