  1. When you say, make sure you have $$$ saved, what does that mean? Are you referring to when I first start the assignment or for in between assignments?

I have a MO nursing license. I have friends that use: The Right Solutions, Medical Staffing Options, Fastaff, Trustaff, and a few others. I have been trying to research companies that pay for your salary AND housing. You already gave your 4 week notice without a job lined out? I am nervous about it. :)
  3. I know I am 99.9% sure I am ready to pursue to become a travel nurse. However, I am still looking at different companies, recruiters, options, etc. I currently work FT at a hospital in the OR. I am apprehensive about giving my 4 week notice without having another place lined out. I realize once I have my notice in, then I will be available for travel, but until then, makes me nervous. What has everyone else's experiences been?

I am hesitant to give my 4 week notice without an actual "job" lined out. I would like to start traveling as soon as possible, but of course, need to give my notice. :) What companies are you talking to?
  5. I am considering travel nursing. I am so I can pay a few debts off and down. Currently, I make about $23.00/hr. All of the quotes for Travel Nursing $$ I see is 35- $41+ for OR nurses, and I have no idea about the stipends for housing...

I am also an OR Nurse of only 3 years, but at the same place. Where I work, we don't necessarily specialize, but rather work in every area. I am ready to start traveling too! I worked Med/Surg for 3 years and OR for 3 years. So I could do either, but would rather do OR. Have you pursued more research on traveling?
  7. Hyperventilation will cause you to pass out alone due to the respiratory and metabolic acid-base imbalance. Meaning there is an imbalance between O2 and CO2. With this, a person can initially feel (after recovering) somewhat fine, however by jumping into water causing the body to use more o2 for metabolism meaning more imbalances and blacking out! Or, how cold was the water. If it was extremely cold this could cause it too.. Hope this helps.
  8. GO FOR IT! If you already have gen-ed classes, go for the 4 year degree becuase those classes will go towards a four year degree vs a two year. Depending upon what you already have, most likely either way you go it will be two to three years anyway. So go for it. I am a Senior in a BSN in Missouri and I love it (well, as much as one could love nursing school-funny). I have two kids (6 & 2) and it is hard because for some reason I think I have to make straight A's and in nursing school that is almost impossible. In the long run, it will be worth it, especially if you have interest in it. A woman in my class is 56 years old. She has a couple of other degrees, but she is a lot older, but it shouldn't matter how old you are because education is priceless and the effects of this is also priceless. Go for it. It will be hard, but you can do it! Good luck to you...
