  1. Clarification I in no way meant to come off that all Filipino nurses don't assess I stated the 4 that I precepted with didn't and was just wondering if assessments were taught in their country. I also work with other filipino nurses who are very thorough and do their job well. I just couldn't believe that the nurses I was refering to didn't assess and didn't see anything wrong with it and some of these nurses also orient new grads. Like I stated before I know what I'm supposed to do I just hope nothing bad happens to their patients that could of been prevented.
  2. I am RN with 6 years experience and never have I seen anything like this. I am a new employee at a hospital in California with majority of the nurses are Filipino. I was on orientation and I had 4 different nurses that I worked with and not one of them did an assessment didn't listen to the heart, lungs, abdomen, didn't touch the patient with a stethoscope. I couldn't believe it. How can you chart and give report to the oncoming shift that the lung sounds were clear when you didn't even listen. I am happy that I was taught better and know better. My question is in other countries are they taught different because we all know here in the US that assessing your patient is the first thing you are taught to do in school.
  3. I am a traveler and just finished a contract at Alta Bates( didn't like it there ) and was looking for a permanent position. My problem is I'm not sure where to work I hear so much about different hospitals from a travelers perspective, I would like to hear from nurses who are on staff and their opinions. My speciality is Med Surg. Any input would be appreciated.
  4. I have been traveling in California for a year and never had a problem with registering my vehicle. I still have my car, license, and tag still registered in my home state, and unfortunately got a speeding ticket and registering my vehicle never came up when I was stopped.
  5. This is so ironic I was at work last week and there was only one CNA for 25 patients when usually there would be two on the night shift since we had enough nurses that night our supervisor decided that one of the nurses would work as a CNA for the shift. All the nurses were fine with it except for one who said at the nurses station that she didn't go to school to be a f------ CNA. Needless to say that nurse was fired for her unprofessionalism.
