Anyone in Western CO?
Thanks for the info. Are you in Junction? I wish I was closer to a bigger hospital, for more opportunity. But my boyfriend's parents have 80 acres with 2000 cows in Olathe...so that is where I am going. Good thing I like small towns and the outdoors :-)

Help! I am not sure what department??
I completely agree with you on the foundation part. I am not confused about wanting to work in the OR. That I am sure of. But I am also pretty confident that I won't spend my whole career in the OR. I am pretty sure that I won't enjoy med/surg and feel that if I start there it might be the end of my career. It is just not an interest for me. I will do it if I have to in order to be well rounded and if it opens doors for me to work in other areas...but not my first choice :-)

New grad in OR?
Thanks to both of you for posting. It was great to hear! MissJoRN made an excellent point... no matter where you go you get a certian type of experience. And then it is like starting over if you want to go back to a place you have been. It was really great to hear. I just don't think that my heart would be in med/surg if I started there. And I can se burnout being a factor there for me if I don't want to be there. kyd007rn - congrats on your job offer and more money. I hope you get the respect that you deserve there. I truly appreciate the contributions from both of you. I have more confidence now, and feel I can make an informed decision.

New grad in OR?
Hi! I am gonna be graduating in 3 weeks. From the beginning of school, I thought I wanted to work in the OR. I interviewed last week, and some how became all nervous to start in the OR. I have no doubt that I will enjoy it, but wonder if I will spend my whole career there. I truly doubt that. That is the great thing about nursing, you can do lots of things. So my question is...if I start in the OR, will I have problems going to other departments? Would I be better off getting some time in med/surg first?

Anyone in Western CO?
Thanks for all the great info. I interviewed at montrose OR last week. The most frustrating thing for me right now is living in CA, they have an IP program and you can work before you get your RN license. Not the case in CO. Can I ask why you prefer Montrose over Delta?

Is it true that OR nurses......
I think I am in the same situation as you. I graduate in 3 weeks, and am deciding if I want to go straight to the OR or do some time in Med/Surg. Have you came to any conclusions?? Have you gotten any advice. I doubt that I want to stay in OR for my whole career. But that is where I want to be now. Will I be ruining any opportunities later in my career?

Help! I am not sure what department??
I am graduating in 3 weeks, and have started interviewing. So far in my 2 years of nursing school, I have felt the most comfortable in the OR. But I am not sure?? And what is the likelihood that I will stay in the OR my whole nursing career. Isn't that the beauty of being an RN, you can go anywhere? I worry that if I start in the OR that I might be stuck there. Can I go to other departments if I start in the OR? Should I endure a year in Med/Surg to allow me the opportunity to transfer later in my career?

Anyone in Western CO?
I guess it is more central western. :-) I am moving to Olathe. I really don't want to commute. So I am looking at Delta or Montrose. Are you any where near that?

Anyone in Western CO?
I am completely new to this forum thing... But I am relocating to western CO in 4 weeks. I graduate in 3 weeks, and will be taking the NCLEX in CO. Just was wondering if there was anyone that could recommend or give me some advice on the limited number of hospitals I have to choose from. Thanks!
