I am expecting my first baby on Valentines Day of this year. This was a surprise to us! A pleasant surprise. However, this means I will have to hold off on applying for the RN or LPN program until after our baby girl is born. I was thinking about re-applying for the program in August of 2010. At this point my baby will be about 6 months old. I do not want to leave the baby all day long in the hands of a babysitter. I am the type of mother who will want to be with my child for at least a few hours of the day without the stress and business of classes and studying. I know that would mean I would potentially have to leave her for 3 years while Im doing clinicals. So I was wondering if there was a "slow track" program. I know they do havea fast track where you can take clinicals throughout the summer to speed it up. I was thinking, if I had to do perhaps just half days or go only half of the week as opposed to a full time course schedule that might be better for me in my situation. Also, does anyone know how long the LPN program takes and then the LPN to RN transition program takes? I was always told that the LPN is 3 semesters and the LPN to RN is 2 semesters. I think this is the route I will have to choose because I have applied to the Indy Nursing Program with all As and a 87% on my TEAS with no acceptance. I did however make it into the LPN program at one point but I decided not to take it yet because I still had a couple required classes I wanted to get done before I took on the stress of having prereqs and LPN program. So all in all , if I took that route normally it would only take me 2.5 years? Thanks for any info you can give.

I have been accepted into the Lawrence IVY Tech LPN program and was rejected from the RN program. I have 3 As and 1 B and an 84% on TEAS. I do not know whether I should reapply for the Columbus IVY Tech because I know there it is not as competitive and they are nicer. Or Should I take the LPN course and then transfer from LPN to RN. I do not know how competitive nor do I know how to apply for the LPN to RN course. HELP!!

I am stuck trying to make this trough decision and I have to make it by tis Friday Oct 24. I have been rejected from the RN program at Lawrence IVY Tech but I did make it into the LPN program with 3 A's and 1 B and a 84% on my TEAS. I am 10 minutes away from the Lawrence IVY Tech. I do not know if I should accept the LPN program and then transfer to the RN program. I don't know what it takes to transfer from LPN to RN nor how competitive it is. I do still have a chemistry class to take ( I am now taking Micro). My other thought is that I should reject the LPN and take my Chemistry class and then retake my TEAS and apply for the Columbus Ivy tech because I know they are nicer and that they are not as competitive. My delima is that Columbus Ivy Tech is an hour drive from me and I don't know what Hospitals they will send me to for clinicals. HELP!!!

I am going to apply for Columbus. I have had such a hard time because I also got 3 A's and 1 B and an 84% on my TEAS and was rejected from Indy. I did however get into the LPN program. Now I am stuck not knowing whether or not to take the LPN and do the LPN to RN. I do still need to take my chemistry course and I also am currently taking Micro. I am thinking about taking my Micro this next semester and then applying for columbus in the Fall of 09. If you have any advice on what I should do please tell me!! I have to accept or reject the LPN spot by Friday Oct 24.
