Relocating to Durham/chapel Hill area, need advice!
Hello, my family and I are thinking of relocating to the Durham/Chapel Hill area, but need some advice and tips on the area. We have never visited before, only passed through, but would like to know where the best area is to raise our kids who are 13, and 10. I am in the process of applying to UNC and Duke, and was wondering where the best places to live would be that are within a reasonable commute to either. We are looking to rent at first, and would like to live in a family friendly, low crime area, with good schools. Any info on the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Central Prison in Raleigh
Hi, bonesrn, sorry I'm not helping with your post, but you replied to my one post regarding UNC hospital, and said I could email you or PM you, but I couldn't figure out how to do that since I just really started using this site. My email is [email protected]. I would love if you could give me some more info on the UNC area, as we are thinking of relocating there from PA, but have never visited. Hoping to get down there in Feb. weather permitting. It just seems that there is a lot more opportunities for my husband and I down there. We have 2 kids ages 10 and 13 and would want somewhere that is a nice quiet neighborhood to raise them in with little crime and good schools. So anything you can tell me I would be very appreciative. I have mainly peds and L&D experience in a large teaching hospital, and am looking to go back for either my Masters or DNP. Thanks again!

PN pay for UNC hospital and shift diffs...
Hello, we are thinking of possibly relocating either to Asheville area, or Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh area. I am interested in working either at UNC or Duke. Can anyone tell me about the pay rates and shift differentials at either place for RN's(sorry about the typo in the heading)? I have heard that UNC has better pay and shift differentials. Also do either offer any kind of tuition reimbursement for schooling, as I plan on pursuing my Masters degree. Any other tips on the area would be great!

Would like to relocate to Asheville area, need advisement on best places to work
Hello everyone, we are thinking of relocating to Asheville from central PA this year because it seems like such a beautiful area, as we love the mountains. Can anyone tell me who are the main employers for RN's and what pay is like? Also if there are higher paying jobs within a little drive from Asheville, such in TN, etc... We have 2 children ages 10 and 13 so we would want good schools and nice neighborhood. I have a BSN, with most of my experience in Peds, and NICU. I am planning on going back for a practitioner soon too. Also, if anyone has information regarding the area, I'd be happy to hear it! My husband has many years of golf course experience and would be looking for a job in that area if anyone knows of anything regarding that. Thanks!

Master's degree, or post-baccalaureate certification
Hello everyone, I am hoping to get some insight on which direction I should take with furthering my education, and getting the most out of my career and degree. I recently graduated(Aug 2010) with my BSN, but have been an RN for 4 yrs prior. I really want to continue on for either my Master's or Doctorate degree, or even maybe a post-baccalareate certificate. Which ever would be the biggest bang for the buck. Certificate wise, I can only see going for management, which I can't really see helping me a whole lot more if I want to continue to climb the ladder with my career. Now with my Master's or Doctorate, I was originally looking into programs for a family health practitioner, but now feel that management, or informatics would be a better choice. If anyone has any insight I'm more than open to it! Also which would have better pay, and more opportunities to step up into higher positions.
