  1. I am a recent graduate of the OLOL ASN program (December 09) and yes you have to take the 6 hours at OLOL College before applying to their nursing program. I had a Bachelor's degree from a state university and I still had to take 6 hours before I could apply to the ASN program. I just took two classes that I didn't need but would help me in the long run. I have heard a lot of negative things about the Lake's program but I loved it. You get out what you put in. You really have to work for that degree and I think most people are not willing to do what needs to be done or they don't like it and so they talk bad about the program. Bottom line is: I did it, I graduated, and now I am a nurse. I don't know what to tell you about trying to do this from out of state because even if you do the 6 hours at the Lake, there is no guarantee that you will get accepted. Just thought that I would give you some info from someone who has been there and done that. Good luck!
