Wow..yeah. Looks like we're sharing a boat. I actually didnt know I could be a CNA until I met with the Nurse Recruiter at my hospital. (I met her totally accidentally.. Iwas there for an interview for a job i nthe Wellness Center- kind of like a nice healthy gift shop!) So..figure I'd met my advisor twice..and been in school for 3 months..and enver even KNEW about thsi ONE class that Icould take to be a CNA. And...in my area..you have to be accepted into the program to even take classes to become an LPN. I spent my entire weekend in tears..because...Im 21 years old..I should be doen school. I have experience in medical Billing..but..its not something I enjoyed doing..and now I have thsi whole plan of what I want to do with my life (which drastically wil leffect my b/fs as well) and...none of it will work out the way I want! Im such a patient person and for some reason right now..I just want someone else to figure it all out for me >. Ive emailed a lto of nurse recruiters around the country asking for help..and pretty much they all tell me to goback and talk to my advisor..not knowing that my school has apaprently bottle necked the entire program..and Im about 2 hours awya from any other accredited schools. BOO!!!

*Caution..this is super long..but really important to me * Hey all...I live in Bloomington, Illinois. I just turned 21 and Im currently attending a community college. I was a great student in highschool but still had to finish pre-requisites for the nursing progam offered here. Well, I walked into school in October of last year to sign up for my first semester of classes(I started in January). I'll not be done all of my pre-requisites this summer..so obviously I only needed 6 classes (they were mostly Psychology, Sociology, Oral comm, Calculus, and an englsih). These classes are REQUIERD to even apply to the nursing program..so my advisor said I should wait unti lI finish those classes to apply for the nursing program. I didnt know the questions to ask..because...I guess I jsut didnt think about it. Well...I met with my advisor again on Friday to schedule my summer classes. I asked her about applying to the nursing program..she said I cant apply until this coming October...and I wont find out if I get accepted until next April. She said the chances of someone applying for the first time is pretty low unless you get picked randomly (75% of seats are chosen on applications...25 is chosen randomly)-so she todl me to plan on waiting atleast two years to get into the program. Now....she NEVER trold me thsi the first time i came in..and Im so angry because I could have applied when I first came in. The real college here (Illinois State) offeres a BSN program..but they have a wait listthat about 1 year as well..and I really dont wnat to get my bachelors in nursing...because Im already working on my BS in Biology. Well..I decided to take Nurs 110 to get my certification as a CNA this summer (8 week logn course) but...Im at a lsos now. I literally sat and cried while I talked to my boyfriend..because I really dont know what to do now. According to my advisor the best chance I have of getting into a nursing program in this stupid little town is 3 years away. I dont want to sit and waste so much time....and to top it all off my b/f wants to move back to Los Angeles (we moved here a year and a half ago) in a year or when im done my nrusing school..and Id hate to have us locked down here for 6 more years for a stupid assosciates degree. I know you are all over the country...does anyone have any advice of maybe another school I should apply to..a place in California I should focus on?
