Hello, my name is Katie and I am a nursing student. I am very interested in cardiac nursing when I complete school and was wondering if I could get some expert advice on what you think about ear creases. This is a school project as well as person interest and I would very much like an opinion. I have gotten some research showing from Modern Medicine (57, 10: 126) and the British Heart Journal (611,4: 361) that ear creases have been linked to sudden death from heart attacks and are the single greatest predictor for such cases. This study , in general, has been going on since 1973. I first became aware when my father, who had 2 major heart attacks at the age of 33 years of age, showed these features, diagonal ear creases on both ears, and his doctor at the time claimed that ear creases were a predisposing factor toward heart attacks. With the abundance of articles for and against what are the cardiac nurses view on this topic. Thank you again.
