I'm probably going to attend here. I'm sick of trying to deal with BMCC, and Laguardia is closer to where I live anyway. Laguardia also has articulation agreements with lots of schools, so if you choose to continue on to get your BSN, you have a lot of options available. Everytime I've called the school, they've been incredibly nice and helpful, and actually know what they are talking about (again, in stark contrast to BMCC). I will be taking my remaining pre-clinicals at Laguardia and hope to begin the Nursing program there in the spring semester. My GPA is a 4.0, so I've been told that unless something drastic happens with my grades, I will likely be accepted. I think the cutoff was 3.6 or 3.7 for the current semester. That said, I may feel differently once I actually start taking classes there. But my gut feel is that they are much more accomodating and seem to have their act together a lot more than BMCC.

I've been taking my Nursing prerequisites at BMCC and have heard some conflicting things. Is there really a waitlist at BMCC? What about Laguardia? I spoke with someone at BMCC at they said there was a two year wait to get into the program. I spoke with someone at Laguardia and they said there was no wait. However, I've dealt with BMCC enough to know that nobody knows what is going in there and most of the things that BMCC staffers tell you about the school are just wrong. I don't have much experience dealing with Laguardia, but they seemed a little more with it on the phone. I like the articulation agreement with Pace for the BSN, which is why I'd really prefer BMCC, but not if I have to wait for two years. Anyway, thanks to anyone who has any information. I know anyone attending BMCC knows exactly what I'm talking about with regard to dealing with the staff there.

Hello future nurses :-) I just found this forum and have spent the last few hours reading everything! All the threads are so helpful. I'm a pre-nursing student taking some of my prerequisites prior to applying for a direct entry master's in nursing program. Currently I'm taking A&P I (I had my first test today) and Organic Chem. I'm going to take A&P 2 and Statistics over the summer, and then finish up with Microbiology, Nurition and Developmental Psych in the fall semester - just in time to complete my apps and hopefully start school the following fall. I've been out of college for about 11 years, working in Corporate America and have felt really dissatisfied. I really wanted to be helping people! After a lot of thought and time spent volunteering at hospitals, I really narrowed in on becoming a Nurse Practitioner. It feels good to have some direction and I'm really excited to embark on my new path. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
