:angryfire Hello fellow nurses: I am incensed because I am in the SAME exact situation. I am trying to get out of my contract with the hospital I am working. The upper management turns their heads while allowing unit managers to manage by intimidation. I work at a large teaching hospital level I trauma that pays for education through an accelerated program. I have been forced to get an attorney twice during my first year of nursing due to harrassment to two different floors. I proved that I was being harrassed both times. I am going to ask to be let out of my contract due to the fact I have demonstrated a hostile working environment on two occasions. I am willing to sign a confidentiality statement that I will discuss it with no one. BUT, I am looking for them to say NO. Three of my classmates have left because of similar harrassment. The hospital made them pay back the money. Another classmate was terminated without just cause and that nurse had to pay back the money too. My attorney fees have been covered by me--not them. I will NEVER sign another contract with another hospital because they cover themselves legally at every corner. The only thing I can do is sue them for harrassment and damages after I have left. Leaving is exactly what I am going to do. I have three prospects and should be getting an offer soon. All I can do is give the following advice: document everything people at work say and do. I know it is time consuming. It has consumed my days off too. I just keep pushing forward and holding my head high because I know I am a good nurse and I have done nothing wrong. One hospital recruiting me will pay as incentive money for staying one year with no contract. That has been my best bet yet. Still, I am going to have to take out a loan. Calling all nurses and students: Don't sign contracts with hospitals for money in exchange for 3 years of service or any time length for service. I am discovering that many hospitals will not buy you out. Go borrow the money. Go to your parents, research finacial aid for college, search out government grants... go to a rich relative. I am truly compassionate because I am in the same jam. But if you find any other means to get financial assistance other than signing a contract with a hospital do so--- You are better off in the long run!:angryfire

Hello everyone! I am a RN in NC and I am working in Winston-Salem. I am originally from Delaware. I am Calling all RNs in NC and Delaware with knowledge on the following question: I am dissatisfied with where I am working and I have a contract with the hospital where I am working for two more years because they paid for my eduation. What hospitals in NC or Delaware would pay off my contract to relocate elsewhere? Calling all nurses from NC and Delaware! Thanks so much!
