  1. Hi everyone — I'm hoping to get some practical advice from nurses who've been in a similar situation. I'm an Ohio RN returning to bedside nursing and will be working 12‑hour shifts (7a–7p). I'm also under a random monitoring program that requires daily check‑in and same‑day reporting to an approved lab during business hours (most sites open 8–5) if selected. I'm trying to figure out the best way people have managed this logistics‑wise when working full 12s, since testing sites generally open after the shift starts and close before it ends. For those who've done monitoring while working 12‑hour hospital shifts: Did you test before your shift, leave early, or have adjusted start times on test days? Did you loop in your manager only, or HR as well? Any tips on communicating this so it's handled smoothly and doesn't negatively impact the unit? Are there any Ohio‑specific lab options or strategies that helped? I'm fully compliant and just trying to plan ahead to make sure I can meet monitoring requirements without disrupting patient care or staffing. Any insight or real‑world experience would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
