Hello! I am recent graduate in May 2025. I started working as an RN at a LTC/SNF in SoCal, however my ultimate goal is to land in acute care/ competent hospitals. I have around 9 months of experience as an RN, so that disqualifies me from multiple New Graduate Residencies in SoCal. I was wondering if anyone knows any hospitals that have transition programs ("experienced RN to acute care") in CA, WA, or OR. Or if anyone has advice on the best way to eventually land in acute care? I would be very interested to hear anyone's experience of transitioning from SNF or outpatient to acute care as an RN. Some people say to wait 1 year to apply for regular positions at hospital, however my fear is that I will not be well-equipped in a higher acuity care without proper guidance and training, any advice? Don't want to stay at SNF too long and continue to develop shortcuts/ bad habits that may discourage future hospitals from hiring.
