Hi Tina, Thanks for all your advice - its good to get some straight forward answers. Regards, Tabz
  2. Hi folks, I am holidaying in Dallas at the moment and have always wanted to work here. My partner's children live in Texas so I am trying to get through the paperwork to apply for the CGFNS exam etc. I've worked in the UK as a RGN since 1976 - I'm trying to trace my training records for the CES but being so long ago I'm having problems about where to send the forms to. Does anyone have any ideas please? I am also wondering whether it would be better to apply from our Dallas address for the exam and sit it in Texas or apply from UK and take the test in London. The final question is does anyone know whether I can take a health care assistant post for the time being and then start the registration process. Sorry this is so long but I would be grateful for any help possible. Thanks in advance, Tabz
  3. Could swomebody help me please. I have been to get a Social security number to register with the borad of nursing in Texas and I was told I couldn't have one. How do I register and apply for the NCLEX and CGFNS if I don't have this number. Many thanks
  4. Thanks for that. Where are you moving to? Good luck with it. Tabz

I have been a nurse in UK for over 30 years in elderly care and health visiting and looking to move to Dallas with my partner as his children are here. I spoke to the Texas Nursing Board yesterday and they are going to send me the info about applying for a Texas license. I have the same problem about trying to get a job and finding a trustworthy agency. I would like to be able to find work as soon as possible. I don't know whether having the license is sufficient to apply for a green card. Can anyone help me please? Many thanks:confused:
  6. I have just joined this forum and have been reading the posts about working in USA. I qualified in 1976!! and have been working in elderly care and as a health visitor since then. My partner's children have their own companies in new york and houston and he wants us to go and live here. I would like to work in elderly care or health promotion. I spoke to the Texas Nursing Board yesterday and they are going to send me the forms and info I need to get a license in Texas. I am not sure how I go about applying for a green card once I get the license in Texas. Does anyone have any idea please? Someone has told me that I'm too old!! I would be grateful for any ideas. I would actually like to become a private health visitor, baby massage instructor, aromatherapist etc as I also have those qualifications. Thanks for reading this, Tabz
