  1. My niece just got admitted to the PICU for an unknown respiratory illness. It's likely an infection but too soon for anything to grow back they just swabbed her and did cultures. She is being intubated now for a bronch and because her entire right lung and partially left was whited out. my PICU nurses!! What is typically expected for her course? How long do you see kids being treated on IV abx for respiratory infections? And if it's viral and she has a (hopefully) quick course, is there anything else medically important to know? I only have experience in LTC this is all new to me please let me know if you can provide any info.
