General hours of class for my cohort are Mondays and Wednsdays from 9-5 basically with a break in between. Then we have clinical from 7am - 3pm (some people might have 3pm to 11pm) either on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. We had no say in when clinical was, or where we were placed, or what time. They also switched people around a lot. They gave us clinical placements really early though, so that was helpful. Clinicals for my cohort are either Tuesday mornings 7 am - 11am, or Thursdays 5pm -9pm. When we have lab is also randomized. As far as I know for first semester though, nobody has clinical on the same day as lab. Finally, the only way you might have some say in WHERE you are placed for clinical is if your cohort has a Hartford Healthcare or Yale New Haven healthcare partnership. You apply, get a tiny stipend, commit to working there after graduation, and get placed for all your clinicals within those hospitals. Congrats! So far, the first few weeks have been pretty easy. The first semester is one clinical per week and 4 days of classes. For our cohort it's Monday and Wednesday we have class most of the day, and then we all have a clinical all day on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday working in a hospital they place us at. Then we all have 4 hour lab either Tuesday morning or Thursday evening. We have no say in where we get placed, or what time we have labs or clinical. They expect us to be flexible and compliant. We also need to set aside a lot of time for studying and schoolwork. They recommend not working any jobs while in this program. The next semesters will get more tough. Our J-term (January term) is a month of psych nursing. In the next full semester, we have TWO clinicals per week, on top of those three days of classes/lab. Our Summer term is the worst, with the most to do. I'm sure you will follow the same general schedule but it might look different since you start in January. Hope this helps.
