  1. please advise! I work at an out pt. endoscopy center. Occasionally we give IV Amp and Gent pre op for people with Heart valve replacements. . We give the Gentamycin 80 mg IV push. One of the anesthesiologists freaked and said "that has to be Piggy-backed!!" Slow drip. But we were all taught to give it IVP. I know, HOW STUPID of us never to check. So, how does one give it? We cannot get a straight answer anywhere!!!
  2. That DON should have stayed the shift and split the work with you. If she sent you home, who took care of the patients. Your DON does not care about the residents or you!
  3. thanks all! I did not mean getting my RN would ne a waste of time or money, absolutely NOT! what I mean is, I wish 23 yearsof experience counted for something! Wher I work now, I only make $1.00 an hour less than the RNs, so that is great for An LPN! But I would love to become an RN. I appreciate the Comm. College Bridge idea. I have to look into that! Nanyc
  4. I have been an LPN for 24 years ( I am 45 yrs old) I really want to get my RN, but why do they make it so hard??? I should not have to prove my Clinical Skills, I have worked all these years in various settings. I want to take all the courses to obtain my degree> But it is a waste of time and money for me to go back to school and spend time doing clinicals. Or, if I do it thru Regents, it is still very expense to do that weekend clinical. It just really hurts, I work with RNs who say and do the DUMBEST things, yet they have the RN. There is not one thing I cannot do that they can. I guess I am ranting
