  1. Hi everyone! I was hired in a previous cohort, so I just wanted to give you a heads-up that they're doing things a little differently this time. In the past, HR handled the first round of interviews to narrow down candidates before sending them to the unit-specific interviews. This time, I was told the unit managers are doing allllll of the interviewing. That might mean the timeline is a bit different for this cohort (though I'm not 100% sure). My manager said they had to sort through around 100 applications themselves just to decide who to invite for the first round. Once they narrow that down, they'll do the first-round interviews, and from there decide who they want to bring back for a second round. In the past, the first round is quick and via Zoom (about 15 minutes—more like "why peds/nursing?”, "why CHLA?”, and a patient care example). The second round is in-person and more in-depth (45–60 minutes with behavioral questions). From my understanding, this cohort might be a bit smaller than usual. I know my unit is only able to accept 1–2 this round, but I'm on a M/S floor. NICCU and ED typically have more spots (4+) though. You're also more than likely going to hired for night shift. Good luck guys!
  2. Hi! I would say to really emphasize WHY you want to be in peds! I talked about my personal experiences as a peds patient and they seemed to really love that! I feel like they can tell when people have a sincere connection to this patient population versus those who kinda just think babies are cute LOL. I will say that the ICUs (especially NICCU) are extremely extremely competitive, so if that's what you're going for I would also be open to another unit just in case (on the app you rank your top two units and why)! Also research their mission and try to circle all your answers back to it! Good luck (:
  3. OMG me too haha but I was called before I even had the appointment haha. What did you end up wearing if you don't mind me asking
  4. Did you have yours already?! That's what I figured but some people have suggested business casual...but I'm like "business casual for a physical?!” Haha. And my boyfriend suggested wearing jeans... ?
  5. Maybe I'm overthinking this but what are yall wearing to your physical/HR appointment ?
  6. The offer letter should be on your portal too! Yes! But I saw someone say they got a call for another unit and their portal didn't update to today
  7. Almost immediately after I got off the phone haha
  8. ? Got a call from 6W
  9. I think it is and that's why it takes so long ?
  10. Mine did too for one unit ugh. I feel like the one HR lady is the one to call everybody haha, I wonder if she does it by unit hmm Has anyone heard from ED yet?
  11. https://www.facebook.com/groups/nurseresidencyprogram/ and search CHLA!
  12. I saw on Facebook someone received a call!
  13. No I know I totally get that but like...I feel like an hour and 45 minutes isn't enough time to call all 30 people haha (or however many is in this cohort)?! Last cohort I think I got called around 12:30 or 1pm
  14. I feel like it's getting too late and we probably won't hear anything until tomorrow ☹️
  15. Yeah starting Monday! But they're rolling offers, meaning you can get called any day! I think it's because you have 2 days to accept your offer, and then if you deny it then they can offer that position to another. So no one panic if you don't hear right away on Monday ☺️
