  1. PICU RN here and have been in this role for over 5 years, I was recently diagnosed with PsA and it has been life changing. Like not being able to do things you once could and accepting it is a harsh reality. I'm sure the weather isn't helping my situation either nor the fact I have a parent who is battling cancer and a lot of co morbidities. I also still haven't found medications that are working for me and have been using a lot of FMLA intermittent the past few months due to pain. The pain is in my hands, knees, feet, and ankle - all of which is essential for nursing. I recently was presented with an opportunity to go from bedside to an educator. It is a decision that I am thinking about but am torn. I would be going from 3 12's a week with differentials to M-F 8hr shifts, no weekends, no holidays. It would be less demanding physically but demanding in other ways. Has anyone made a switch because of PsA? How was working M-F vs 3 12's, is it manageable with PsA? I am conflicted and still trying to face the reality of my situation - I keep thinking what if my PsA gets better and the pain goes away I could continue as a PICU RN. I love my job and my days go fast. I think that is what I am grappling with and the fact I feel my body is forcing me to make a decision. My other option would be to go part time on my unit but it still can be physically demanding - we have pt from 3kg to 150kg and you never know what you are going to be assigned. After a shift, I need a day to three days to recover depending on my assignment and my managers are aware of my situation. What would you do in my position?
