  1. Big Breakdown problem... (*'.')

    Howdy! I'm TheMightyDebo, and I'm new to these forums. I'm a 20 y/o nursing assistant on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and am going through nursing school. ^^ With that being said, here is my concern. One of my Pt's has AWFUL breakdown that covers their lips. They're bleeding quite badly and covered in clots, whenever I make my rounds. From what I've been told, it originated from the pressure caused by the ET tube, which won't be an issue anymore, since they've trached her. I've been applying A&D ointment and putting gauze on them, but that's about all I can think of to do ;.; I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how I could take care of her lips. Any help is greatly appreciated!
