Did anyone hear about this yet? I know they updated that the decisions would come out today

I thiiink the merit scholarships are the only aid Penn offers, except for those who receive the Amy Gutmann Leadership Scholars funding (will be notified on Monday). There are also a lot more opportunities to apply for both external and Penn-funded scholarships for the MSN specialty years once you're already enrolled and in the MPN (eg Penn's Lauder program which is a full ride for the MSN portion, and other external specialty-specific scholarships). Still a lot though!

Has anyone been notified yet about the Amy Gutmann Leadership Scholars Program? Penn's email last week said "If you are chosen as a recipient of this award, you will be notified next week."

The email they sent out this morning says: "All admitted applicants should have received merit award information in their decision letters. You will receive information on the breakdown of your tuition and fees, living expense budget, total cost of attendance, and your financial aid eligibility for each of the 4 terms that you will be here for the MPN portion of your Nursing Program. This information will be sent by February 7th." I guess even if you applied MPN/MSN they are only sharing MPN financial aid info for now?

I think it said on the application that it's $10K (I think it might only apply to the MPN year). It involves being part of a leadership scholars program with additional activities/work. More info here: https://www.nursing.upenn.edu/admissions/financial-aid/amy-gutmann-leadership-scholars/

For those who got in, does anyone know when we will be notified about the Amy Gutmann Leadership Scholars program?

I have 3+ years of experience as a medical assistant at a reproductive health clinic, and have been a volunteer birth doula for several years. I've heard from current students in the MPN program that it's fairly straightforward to apply to an MSN specialty during the MPN year! I'm guessing Penn wants to see that you have relevant experience and a demonstrated interest in the specialty you're applying to. Yay congrats!! I also got $25K. Good point about that only covering the MPN year. I know there are also more opportunities for scholarships and funding for your MSN once you are already in the MPN program.

Vanderbilt University - Master of Nursing (MN) Prespecialty 2025
Hi there, I appreciate your concern and I did plenty of research before applying. I don't live locally so I was planning to visit only if I was admitted. I was aware of the early deadline but did not expect myself to be in the very fortunate position of being admitted to multiple schools. Given the different financial aid packages I've received at Vanderbilt and other schools, that is affecting my choice now. I wish Vanderbilt gave more than a month for admitted students to decide, since they obviously know that other schools (like Yale and Penn) have later deadlines. I don't love the idea of taking someone else's spot by putting down a deposit if I'm not sure, so I probably won't do that but I have heard it's common practice.

Is anyone else planning to put down the deposit to hold their spot? Vanderbilt's Jan 20 decision deadline is sooo early and I'm still waiting to hear back from Penn and OHSU which won't be until late Jan. I would love to be able to visit before deciding too but they aren't hosting an admitted students day until April apparently (which I feel like defeats the purpose...). I heard from friends who are in the program now that many of them put down the deposit to hold their spot before they decided 100% so I'm wondering how common that is.

I was accepted for MN + PNC (nurse midwifery)! So thrilled! I'm still waiting to hear back from two more programs but this is definitely a great option. For anyone else whose decision letter says they received scholarship funds, do you know if the amount included is annually or for the full length of the program? For example I got $15K but I'm unclear if that's $15K per year or total. Thanks all!
