  1. Hey can you talk about your in person interview/shadowing day? What was that like? Did they offer you the position that day and start on boarding, or offer it after the fact and then you just go in for paperwork/drug testing and such?
  2. I couldn't find a forum newer than 2021. Anyone happen to apply for the ASN program for Spring? I applied and it's getting close to the time where we should be notified! I'd love to chat, and I would love some opinions on the school itself if you're a current student, as I've only visited the campus once, during Summer.
  3. I know I'm 4 years late to this thread, but actually, I was hoping some of you that got accepted would tell me how the program is! I am waiting to hear if I was accepted for Spring 2025, but I was already accepted at another school too. I don't know anything about Gordon. I just went on a tour over the Summer and of course there were no students, so while the campus is adorable and the people I did meet were wonderful, I've still not met anyone who goes to, or knows anyone who goes/went to Gordon. I guess I just want to know if you felt your professors were setting you up to succeed, if you felt the material was clear and conveyed in a way that you felt confident in your understanding, and if you felt like your classmates were close and supportive. I'd also love to know where your clinicals were at. I'm a bit hesitant about Gordon since I know so little, but also, I feel like I prefer the location (I'm a commuter) and I like that school seems to really value "adult learners" aka old people like me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I made a fb group for 2025 nursing so we can connect there if you want! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1079109140276476/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT If the link doesn't work it's called "GSU Perimeter Spring 2025 Nursing Students"
  5. Hey, I did a CLEP for american government. Look into that if you'd like because I did it for free through modern states, studied for like a week, passed, and was awarded the credit by GSU.
  6. Yes, I want to elaborate on this as well. If you were waitlisted, do not give up hope. Not everyone who was accepted will end up going. I know at least one school that hasn't given their acceptances yet, and I'm sure there are others. I would say most people would make their decisions by November. Just because they accept by October 7, doesnt mean they can't change their mind! I don't know the schedule for sure, but I have a friend in her 1st semester and she said they start clinicals at the end of October. Classes started August 26, so about 2 months before clinicals start. Also, I would just suggest that everyone get good at dosaging conversions. When my husband was in nursing school I remember that being a big thing he talked about and my friend in the program now also mentioned it. You have 3 attempts to pass on every dosage quiz and if you can't do it on the 3rd try, you get removed from the program.
  7. Yes,that's perfectly fine to still be completing your prereqs this semester. I'm not positive but I think theres something on the acceptance letter stating the acceptance is contingent upon you completing the required class with the required grade by the start of Spring semester.
  8. There are certain classes you have to have complete before the start of the Spring semester. Those are all the ones with grade requirements (A&P 1 and 2, micro, the labs that go along with them, and psych 1 and 2). You can still take some of the other classes while taking your 1st semester of nursing school, but its ideal to have everything finished so you can focus on the nursing class. I think they have to be completed by the beginning of your 2nd semester of nursing school. Source: I do a lot of research, and my son and husband both attended gsu nursing school.
  9. I bet we will know by Friday. I'm OK, right now I'm just doing my classes and studying, so I'm busy. If I don't get in, hopefully I will from the other school I applied to!
  10. I am not applying for the BSN program, I'm applying for ASN, but I wanted to tell you to take your TEAS as soon as possible. I think you have to wait 30 days between taking it. I took my TEAS 3 weeks after the Spring semester ended and only completed Microbiology and A&P1. I had some family stuff going on so I BARELY studied, so I was nervous, but I got an 84 on my first try. It was heavy on Chemistry and A&P2, but I scored an 89 on the science portion. It's honestly not that hard. I found that Quizlets helped me the most. Many of them have specific questions from the TEAS 7 test. Take a practice test to see how you feel, but definitely take it sooner than later!
  11. Hey everyone. I applied on 6/12 and got my "met requirements" email the same day. I know the email states that they'll let us know by Sept. 30, but does anyone know when/if they ask for transcripts or letters of recommendation?
