I just got a new job at the local Veterans nursing home and from what i saw durring the interview, it is a whole other world than what i am used to. i have worked in LTC for 12 years in 3 different nursing homes. i know that the VA home is "LTC" but things are so different. what advise can you offer to a LPN who is starting a new job in the same area but it is so different?

and we have a VA home and clinic and still can't seem to find a job!

I live in a small town of about 17,000 with 1 hosp., 5 LTC facilities, 1 other hosp. about 30 min. away and still cannot find a nursing job. It is not that I cannot get an interview, it is that noone is hiring right now. I left my last job in Oct. d/t the DON degrading me in front of the entire Nursing home staff, Dietary, nursing, housekeeping and laundry. So now I NEED my nursing fix and cannot seem to find an opening anywhere. There is certainly no nursing shortage here. In fact too many nurses.
