Thanks for all of your reply..I checked with management..They stated..it's best practice to have yourself and patient wear mask during that procedure. If patient refuses to wear mask .Have them turn their face away while removing PICC line..

Also when I look at videos on you tube about picc lime removal procedure, in most of the videos patient and nurse is not wearing mask..

Is it mandatory for the nurse and patient to wear mask during PICC line removal procedure.I know we are suppose to wear it during PICC line dressing change..Not sure about it during PICC line removal?

Yes I discussed it with my preceptor. She said patients cannot experience diarrhea even if you missed the muscle while giving an IM injection. I showed her exactly where I gave the injection. She said I might have hit a small blood vessel while giving the injection, which is why I saw blood after taking out the needle. It's just me overthinking because the patient told me three days later that she is feeling nauseous and has some diarrhea after that injection. Additionally, diarrhea and nausea are common side effects of that medication. I also feel very guilty about the situation. The patient mentioned I gave the injection on her waist instead of her hip, but I explained to her that it doesn't matter because I could feel the muscle in that area while landmarking.

As a new grad nurse, I administered an intramuscular injection of fulvestrant, a hormonal therapy used to block estrogen receptors in breast cancer patients. The patient receives this injection monthly on both gluteal sites. During my first independent administration on the second gluteal site, I observed blood in the syringe upon needle removal. The patient suggested that the injection might have been mistakenly administered in the waist instead of the hip due to inaccurate landmarks. However, she reported feeling fine and left the facility. Two days later, I followed up with the patient, and she reported experiencing nausea and diarrhea since the injection. She attributed these symptoms to the injection being administered in the waist instead of the hip. Even after two days, she continues to experience nausea. As a new grad nurse, I am concerned about the possibility of hitting a vessel or misplacement of the injection due to inaccurate landmarks. Could these symptoms be related to such issues?

I feel bad for something that I can't stop thinking about. Yesterday, a patient came to the clinic for the administration of IV antibiotic cephalexin, 2 grams. He is supposed to receive it every day for the next 10 days for cellulitis. After disconnecting the medication, I flushed the site with NS. Then, I realized there were a few drops left in the piggy bag still, and the patient should receive all the medication. So, I scrubbed the hub where the midline catheter ends and reattached the medication bag. Then, immediately, I realized I forgot that the bag tubing tip might have touched something because I left it on the chair when I was flushing the site. I should have scrubbed the tip of the bag as well. I feel so guilty. What can my patient get because of this? Today, they discontinued the midline catheter as it was leaking and started a peripheral IV site. What kind of infection can my patient get because of my mistake Please help."

It was ceftriaxone 1 gram..patient got if for 3 weeks everyday and that was the last day.

Hello, Patient was at the clinic to receive his final dose of IV antibiotic ceftriaxone 1 gm and his IV was supposed to be discontinued. I forgot to flush the line with 5 cc NS after administering IV antibiotics and removed IV cannula from his hand after the medication was over . I realized that later while documenting and mentioned it in my notes. I feel bad for the mistake I made. I informed my supervisor about it Will this will cause harm to the patient or if I need to take any further action. Please help
