  1. The ICU manager sent the schedule after Genevieve. Which unit are you going to be on? You could email the manager from the list she emailed us.
  2. No it's every week for 12 weeks with both classroom and either 1, 2 or 3 precepted 12 hour shifts each week, depending on how how much classroom / healthstream / Ecco's are due that week. edit: sorry I misread your comment, I am not sure about the weekend requirement. I assume some of the precepted shifts will be weekends.
  3. It said in the interview and job description that no pto will be approved during the residency. You'll need to reschedule your trip for when you're off orientation.
  4. Royal blue for mission Viejo It says the whole 12 week schedule but it doesn't show when the precepted shifts are throughout the weeks, so I only know the classroom/module portion so far.
  5. Mission in MV has an ICU resident position still up on the website - https://www.providenceiscalling.jobs/mission-viejo-ca/RN-resident-mh-ICU/E0982329CF8E4AFDAB6F90D26A757250/job/
  6. Sad. I lived in Tampa where the pay is horrific also. Started out as a new grad 8 years ago at $21.
  7. It's all insanely low. Providence is one of the lowest paying hospitals in California
  8. More or less you want to stay on a 7p-7a schedule on your days off too. Maybe move it by a couple hours but I wouldn't deviate too much on your days off. What works for some doesn't work for others and vice versa. Google will give you a lot of insight on transitioning and working night shift as well. Flip flopping is hard - Mission Viejo starts new grads at $45
  9. It's crazy competitive to get into the hospital as a new grad in California. I had to start on nights 8 years ago and this was in Florida after months of not getting in. Nights are what you make it, yes it can be rough but it's a better time to learn if you're new. Also you can't flip flop between days and nights if you're nighshift. How many shifts did you do that it affected your mental health? Wow. Good luck
  10. Oh yeah San Diego is insanely low. Lower than LA. I could have stayed here on tele pcu floors and made $100 an hour but I absolutely despise pcu ms tele and need off the floor asap. Also rent is about $4,000 for a 1 bedroom in the city. SoCal is notoriously low pay. $49-50 sounds about right for new grads in SoCal. New grad in NorCal make $75-85 off the bat... but again rent here is absolutely insane
  11. Kaisers are horrible. I've worked at multiple and all are just as bad as HCA. Working at one now and do not recommend. Their pay is high for a reason. Is she in NorCal? If so that's crazy low. Sounds about right for SoCal though
  12. I'm truly curious how new grads afford to live in these areas on this? Live with parents? Significant other? I'm coming from the bay and taking a massive pay cut to specialize in ICU and will only be making $57 after 8 years of being a nurse LOL.
  13. For anyone wanting to stay at Providence: I've been a nurse for 8 years and they offered me $57 for nights plus $6.50 diff in LOL. Insanely low. Only reason I took it was bc I wanted to transition to a different unit...
  14. Offered during the interview but the official offer took a week to get via email. I'm sure it's a bit different for the new grad residency but this is just how mine worked.
  15. I was offered a fellowship at mission (in MV) last week in ICU and accepted official offer last Friday. Said I would be with new grads for Feb 26th so I assume they are still reaching out for the new grad residency.
  16. Yeah I wish I could get that kind of position that was enough to pay my bills. I never hear back from those positions
  17. For what it's worth, I'm an experienced nurse who got an official offer today for a SICU fellowship in Mission Viejo starting Feb 26th. I was told I would be with new grads so I assume this means the residency. I interviewed last Wednesday. It must be a different process for every hospital or maybe fellowship vs residency but thought I'd share, anyone going to be at MV in ICU?
  18. I have done pcu, ms, tele for 6 years and I hate it. It's so chaotic I can't even provide good patient care and am so exhausted on my days off from running around like an insane person that I don't have much of a life outside work. I 100% know that ICU is stressful but I'm thinking of trying it... My biggest regret after nursing was not specializing right away. I was offered a staff position in Southern California and thinking of stopping travel nursing in the SF Bay Area, taking a (large) pay cut, to try a SICU position at a level 2 (350 bed hospital). Am I making a mistake doing this? What are the main differences in exhaustion levels between chaotic floor nursing and ICU? Is there another specialty you would recommend that I can try to do a fellowship in? I'm finding it hard to get into a specialty and this is the only one I've heard back from and offered a fellowship in. Thanks for any info or advice, truly appreciate any kind words of wisdom!
  19. I had one last week for ICU fellowship (they said I would be with new grads) and she came on right at interview time. No issues at all.
