Girl be proud of yourself you handled that situation trust me there are many more of those days to come. Why dont these doctors realize we dont have time to play with them, its not our job to confirm whos on staff, and whats the big deal with ordering the xray. sometimes they make situations so difficult.

well im a lvn at olympia medical center in los angeles but i am debating starting my career at a new place altogether. Where do you work?

just a quick question what state are you in? im only asking because i have been a lvn in the state of california and if you have IV cert you can hang blood, iv fluids, but never any antibiotics. The rule to remember is that you can hang anything that the body makes naturally. But if that is ok in your state what do RN's do?

hi everyone im so happy today because i passed my boards. California boards take so long i took my boards on the 2nd and just got my license today. I was dying while waiting!

i feel what you are saying. I am a new grad RN and I applied at 4 hospitals that i wanted to work in the ICU or step down cedars, usc university, usc county and ucla and all of only offered me a night shift. and get this ucla called me and had nerve to offer me one month days and one month nights can you believe that i would be delirous going back and forth!

ok I been preparing for this for a year but my boards are in 2 days and i am getting so anxious i dont know what to do. I've been studying daily for approx 5 weeks and i feel well prepared but as this day is getting close i am getting more and more uptight. I can't sleep at night and i am pacing and i keep having these dreams that the nclex test won't stop giving me questions up to like 5,000. Am I turning paranoid or what? Any last minute suggestions.

Hi everyone just need some non-bias advise. Im a new grad RN Ive been at my job for 3 years as an LVN on a tele/Dou floor and have recieved excellent skills and knowlege. Ill be taking my boards soon and for some reason I'd like to start fresh at a new hospital. The biggest probelm at my hospital is the lack of CNA. Our staffing is done by numbers not acuity and no matter what 5 patient no CNA! It is damn near impossible to do all your work and pass trays, feed patient, give baths, ambulate, answer call lights and clean bowel movements. By the end of the day im pissed 1- because I dont have the time to take care of patient like i want to and 2- im always leaving late 3- im exhausted. But on the other side I enjoy the staff and made very close friends with them, I get along with the doctors and have no problem getting what I need from them because I know them plus I know the routine. Not to mention I got offered 35.00 an hour to stay there as a new grad plus a 3, 000 $ sign on bonus. On a extra weekend it is time and a half all day plus a 250$ bonus.I make my own scheldue, don't have to work weekends if I dont want to and can request time off if i need it. I know money is everything but no hospital will offer me that much as a new grad with no experience. I am having such a hard time deciding what to do. Ive managed to take care of my patients for 3 years like this Im just imagining how much longer I can go on. Any advice will help Thanks!!
