University of British Columbia (UBC) Nurse Practitioner Masters Program 2024 Applications
Congratulations to all those who have been accepted! I have a few queries about UBC. Could someone provide information on the precise cost of only tuition for the two years, the frequency of "in-person" schooling per week, and if there are any scheduled breaks throughout the academic year?

University of British Columbia (UBC) Nurse Practitioner Masters Program 2024 Applications
Hi V12 - I found this on the 2023 forum regarding applications to UVIC! Not sure if this helps. "For 2023 intake year for the Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner program, we had over 170 applications for 35 seats. Due to the overall admissions applicant pool GPA's, the GPA cut-off was above 7.23 out of 9.0 on the UVic scale and your admissions GPA was lower than this range... The admission process is very competitive. Even those with an excellent and relevant range of experiences are not always admitted. ... For now the post-degree NP Program only accepts the MN or MSN degree, not the public health master's etc... Regarding work experience, the NP Program admissions competitiveness does favour those RN's with more than the minimum two years' of experience. For recent graduates, this may mean working a few more years. As to the range of experience, The NP Program looks for nurses who are able to work as independent clinicians in a family practice context, who have independent practice and assessment skills, in community settings or within interdisciplinary team contexts. Your application will include writing a comprehensive letter of intention to explain your background and 'make your case' as a future advanced practice nurse- NP. The program is competitive and everything that makes you stand out as a clinician will help. The more diverse your nursing experience is, the better students assimilate their new learning into the transition from RN to NP. Examples include: ER, Primary Care, Remote/Expanded scope, Medicine. Also, the references are an important part of your application and should be submitted by qualified individuals, with a strong recommendation from each referee regarding your future potential for success in an academic program. We recommend first and foremost that you find the individual(s) who will give you the best possible references. For the employment reference it can be from a manager or director but Educator could fit too (arguably for either academic or employment). For references from a PCC, it may be a bit more limited. If you do apply again to the UVic MN NP Program in a future year, you will be asked for the following: If you applied in a previous year, you must provide an in-depth letter showing actions taken to strengthen this new application over the previous one. The letter must be typed, double spaced, with standard margins, and no longer than 2-pages. Please check in again if you do plan to apply in a future year, closer to the application date in case there are any changes to requirements.”

When did you receive a response from UBC last year? I was notified by UVIC in March, though that was a couple of years back. Have there been any modifications to your personal submission? My references are stronger, I obtained chemotherapy/research certificates, and refined the personal statement to reflect a more individual-centric perspective, steering away from an emphasis on professional experiences. Fingers crossed!

University of British Columbia (UBC) Nurse Practitioner Masters Program 2024 Applications
I've submitted applications to the University of Victoria, University of Regina, and the University of British Columbia. Specialized RN in adult and pediatric oncology with research certifications. 5+ years of diverse nursing experience, including a travel assignment up north. This is my second application to UVIC. In my initial attempt, I applied with minimal experience, banking on my grades to pave the way. My GPA is 4.01 in the last (3) years of my BSN, curious about how they evaluate the grading scale, especially as I haven't pursued further education beyond my BSN. Do they need to consider grades from my (2) year of university to fulfill the requirement of all 30 credits? Any insights from fellow applicants?
