University of Wisconsin-La Crosse/Mayo Clinic Health System CRNA - 2026
I canceled my interview, I got accepted elsewhere ? best of luck everyone! Last time I interviewed they cared a lot about vasoactive medications and the answer to a few questions related to past medication errors and why anesthesia and why la crosse type stuff. Oh and my favorite, "tell me about the most complicated patient you've had" and then follow up questions based on their conditions and meds and such

Oh, I didn't actually ask. I knew my chances were super small after the information session when they were going over competitive applicants. For future people that want the best chance possible: they look all the way back to your high school grades and everything should be a 3.5 or higher, 3.7 or higher preferred. My high school GPA was only a 3.0 but I got an interview because all of my college career was 3.9, and I buffed my resume with tons of extras- they especially liked the research experience and publications. They want a CCRN score above 100, preferably above 115, and a first time pass on it. They want a first time pass on the NCLEX. They want you to take a graduate level statistics course and take the course that Akron itself offers every Spring and fall, I don't remember the name of it, and get an A in both. They also have a second semester of that same Akron class you could take I think. Then they want scores as high as possible on their own pre interview quizzes, which are 10 math questions and 30 critical care questions. They do take personality into account but are mostly clinical clinical clinical. They requested we don't speak about the content of the quizzes or the interview questions so I will not share that much detail out of respect for such amazing people and a fantastic program. Good luck everyone! This is probably that Akron specific course that they recommend, I thought I'd read it in the thread!

OMG thank goodness!! LOL now that I've finally gotten here I'm like paralyzed with next steps stuff. I'm moving from Wisconsin so it's about a thousand times more confusing than it needs to be, as well as a million times more expensive. I wonder how we'll be able to reach others accepted? Should we start like a Facebook group or something?

The personal interview is only a 10-15 minute time slot, but you do like a group q&a, a campus tour, and a closing speech thing too so it's in total like 4 hours of the day oh sorry I didn't see someone else responded basically the exact same way!! LOL. for your other question, I interviewed on the 23rd in the PM session and received my acceptance at 8am on the 25th

I have a 3.9 overall collegiate GPA, CCRN, TNCC, BLS, ACLS, PALS. Two published research articles and three overall research projects in the fields of nursing education and psychology. Take CRRT, ECMO, impella, IABP and so forth. Experience in surgical and trauma ICUs, medical and cardiac ICUs, and ER. 3.5 total years critical care experience. But I think the biggest thing that they enjoyed was how I made them laugh in the interview a few times. They're really big on checking personality beyond the resume.
