  1. I've already attended a semester. It's hard for me to answer because my first semester started in the Spring, so whoever had prereq's left to complete, they took them in the Summer. Whatever questions you and anyone else here have can be answered at orientation.
  2. There's an earlier post where I go more into detail about what the schedule during the semester looks like
  3. I wouldn't really worry about that part too much. My recommendation is that you guys order your uniform as soon as possible because the source they use for it takes a really long time to ship. The only thing that you can't get anywhere else except for Meridys is the scrub. You can find the pants directly off of the website of the company that makes them. You just need to make sure that they are the same product code and color, which is red.
  4. The lecture will normally be once a week, but the first week there will be two just to get you jump started on all the content they will give. Skills labs will be once a week, but will only start on the 2nd week. The first one will be 8 hours long, and then the rest of them will be 4. Then, a little while into the semester will be your clinicals at the hospital, which, on paper says it's 7a-7p, but my clinical instructor never kept my group there that entire time. It really just depends on the instructor you get. Throughout the semester, there will also be two different simulations, which will be held on the Dunwoody campus. There will be a week in the semester where you have all four of those things in one week, so it'll get very busy.
  5. Well, one of my biggest challenges was learning how to answer questions in nursing school. They're meant to trick you by using specific wording and answers can be pretty subjective at times. They also ask questions in ways where you have to actually connect everything you learned and know how to apply it.
  6. Hey everyone, congrats to all of you that got accepted. I'm currently a student and I just attended my first semester. I unfortunately didn't pass and I will be applying for reentry in the cohort all of you will be attending. I just want to give everyone here a heads up on what this will be like. Some of you may succeed very strongly, but if you're like me, you will have to study in a much different way than you've ever had to. You really have to have a systematic approach to it because of the amount of information you have to remember. My first word of advice is to not read the chapters word for word. They will give an outline on things you will have to know for each topic and I highly suggest letting those guide your reading. Also, I don't know if you attended orientation already but the grading policy is very strict here. The passing grade is 75% and they do not round like most college classes do. I unfortunately got a 74.5%, which absolutely sucks that I was literally one answer away on my final from passing the course. But, I believe everything happens for a reason. Let me know if any of you have any questions.
  7. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere once that they schedule your clinicals for you.
  8. Yes, only Nurs 1921. I'm a little annoyed with this uniform situation because I can't try it on before and I'm worried about ordering one that ends up not fitting right.
  9. To my shock, the results came back within one day. And yes, I did already register but than you.
  10. How long did it take you to get your test back? I just got it done yesterday and I'm worried the results won't come back in time before the deadline.
  11. Hey everyone, I'm in the process of getting everything together and I'm having trouble with the process of getting the background check and drug screen through advantagestudents.com. There are multiple different types of packages and I don't know which one I am supposed to get.
  12. The checklist which was sent in the acceptance email specifically says to get a TB TST test (skin test) and not quantiferon (blood test).
  13. I think that could very likely be true. It's quite possible that it's just some sort of person being an online troll. So weird. I also have know idea what she meant when she said "Galb4894 ik you feel better than us.” If it is a real person, then it's obviously just someone young and immature. But anyways, I would like to refocus the attention on a more positive tone. The reason why I opened this thread was to harbor a community for all of us applying to the program, whether accepted or rejected and to keep in mind that we are all here for one common goal.
  14. I'm a little confused because I don't that anyone being upset was directed at you in the first place. Nobody really cared that much.
  15. I sent back the confirmation letter but still haven't gotten anything since I only sent it today. I am however waiting for the form to have a physician sign for a physical. They said it is in the welcome email but I definitely did not see it, so I sent an email about that.
  16. Sorry to hear that! Don't give up though! There are plenty of other programs out there. Just because you didn't get accepted into this one, doesn't mean you're not capable of becoming a nurse.
  17. I called to ask what my status is and she told me with a very pissed off attitude that they did not send out the emails yet and that I can call back after the 30th if I have not received it yet.
  18. I agree, she was probably the first person that called and they were probably just getting annoyed with all the other calls after that.
  19. I have read threads of previous Spring semesters and all of the said they got their acceptance and rejection letters on the 28th and 29th
  20. Right, I think the biggest problem is that they are not the most informative about specific advisement for the nursing program. I remember I met with an advisor one time, and the only information he could give me was everything that I already knew from the website. They should have a specific advisor for aspiring nursing students.
  21. I think this is a very good thing to bring up. It seems that rose requirements are the qualifications just to apply. It still doesn't make much sense to me because it gives people false leads and guidance, in my opinion.
  22. I also only applied to Perimeter. Even though my stats are high, I know that it's never a good idea to not apply to more than one program. I was just so exhausted of the whole process by the time I was finished applying. On top of that, with most schools you have to apply first to the school itself and THEN apply to the nursing program, and different school also require different entry exams, and so on....
  23. I say it wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't know who exactly you are supposed to reach out to for that information. Hopefully someone in this thread will know. I am very eager to get this email now. The other threads which were for Spring semesters all said they received their letters in late September.
