  1. Hi, I am a new grad RN but I'm older (44), have worked as a health clerk for 5 years at my local school district with the main nurse in a moderate to severe special education school site (think kids with pervasive needs and meds, toileting, constant intake IEPs, 504s, annual IEPs, meds and training staff on care and conditions). I have an interview next week as a school nurse. Given my background as a health clerk, plus my history in surgery and ICU for acute care as a monitor tech and an aide, do you think it's too much for a new grad to take on? One of my questions is how they'll support me getting my feet under me and learning the ropes as the RN (I'd share the district with three other nurses, one of whom I know). Also, does this "stall" my career if I ever want to pursue high acuity bedside nursing (PICU, NICU, etc)?
  2. Did anyone who interviewed for NICU get an offer yet?
  3. Has anyone heard from NICU with offers yet? Or reference checks? Did you get to interview? Did you get an offer?
  4. You have to have zero paid hours as an RN to qualify
  5. I was nervous as well! Did you precept there? That was my only comfort— just having some familiarity with the unit. I asked a couple questions but didn't get to ask how many people they were going to take in these cohorts. Did you get that information?
  6. Did anyone else interview for NICU today?
  7. I have my interview scheduled! ?
  8. How do they notify people for interviews? Is it a call? Email?
  9. Got routed for further consideration today! (mentioned NICU as my interest). I do know that they route based on department. I went straight from applied to routed. Never saw reviewed or under review on my application. This morning it was still applied and later it was routed. I think it's unpredictable. ?
  10. Mine still says "applied”…so panicked ?
  11. Mine still says applied. ?‍? I saw the update on LinkedIn today so I'm trying to not freak out (yet).
  12. My application status (I am a new grad) says "You have been manually added for consideration for this position", which I am assuming means that they are submitting me up the chain for review for the position? Does anyone have experience with Valley Children's in CA and what this status means on my application?
  13. Hi! I also submitted for NICU! GOOD LUCK! Hopefully we get in together!
  14. For a variety of reasons, mostly logistical, I am likely not attending my pinning ceremony. I am not invested and interested in my actual graduation than my pinning ceremony anyway. But I am curious if others think I may regret not attending someday?
  15. I'm not sure but our clinicals are on weekends. Not sure if that's for all but you'll have to roll with the punches as they give you info. ?
  16. Hi! There are people still able to work in our cohort. We are in semester 2 now and the schedule is 2 12hr shifts per week plus 3 days of classes so expect school 5 days per week for the pre license year.
  17. This may be for the next term. They are holding the interviews for the next term I believe as those applications were due on 12/1 and they are probably moving those from this waitlist onto the next program cycle. I believe that's how Michael explained it to me before...I could be totally wrong!
  18. I'm not sure they are. Are you sure this isn't an interview for the next round? Those apps were due 12/1 so they may be interviewing for the next cohort.
  19. I was number four on the waitlist and I was added a couple weeks ago. I talked to the advisor and he mentioned that they also added one more after me and he's had several people ask questions about deferment, so they may even go further into the waitlist in the next week or two, I think. I am not sure how the final numbers are shaping up but I know that they took at least the first five from the waitlist.
  20. I was number 4 on the waitlist and heard over a week ago that "at least one person had dropped"...I am curious if anyone else who was waitlisted for the ELMSN FNP program has heard anything new?
  21. FNP. I was told to hold the dates for orientation since I'm near the top of the list and they'd know more after 11/9.
