As a nurse educator I want to say a few things that may help 1) Usually we do not like to spoon feed students (map, Study guide) We would like you to study all the material and bring in information from past classes. This will prepare you in becomming a great nurse. 2) Nurses are expected to be the eyes and ears of the M.D. As nurses you are responsible for the patients. You have to be knowldgable in order to understand changes in the status of your patient and prevent complications. You have to able understand the disease process and its effect on labs and other systems. You are responsible to notify the physcian and failure to do this is concidered negligence. This is why so many students are in shock durring the first year as a nurse. 3) We have 5 semesters to do this it is not easy. I do not agree with any instructor that is harsh or decieves student in thinking certain things will be on the test. My advice is that you should study study study not just for the grade but for your future patients. Someday this will pay off. Think of the satisfaction you will recieve when your education and hard work actually saves or improves the lives of other.
