Nursing School Program advice.
Thanks Kwality. I'm wondering if volunteering for an EMT or something similar at a hospital would look good on my application. Any thoughts?

accelerated BSN?
If you already have an B.A, would you have to take the RN route? Or striaght to BSN? I currently made the decision to go back to school for nursing (i'm 29) and I already have a B.A. and i was planning on going to accelerated BSN route, Do i have to start from scratch and go for an associates?

Nursing School Program advice.
All you nursing students out there please lend me your ear and give me your $.02 cents.. After working in an unfulfilling job in the advertising world, at age 29, I decided to shift gears and go back to school for Nursing. Right now, I'm finishing up my pre-reqs and kicking ass in them but my undergrad cum GPA is low (2.44). I'm aiming for the accelerated BSN program so I can get it done in 1 year or so. I spoke to one school rep yesterday and he literally crushed all my hopes. I know I shouldn't let ONE school rep put my hopes down but I couldn't help but let it get to me because I knew that from the start my undergrad GPA would cause a problem, come time, for me to apply for the Accelerated BSN programs. Most schools do not require the ACT exam so that's one less thing I have to worry about but.. how big of an impact does my undergrad GPA have that was done 6-7 years ago? Any advice? Any input would really help. Thanks!

How to get into the nursing program
hi, I share a similar fate with you. I've recently decided to change careers at the age of 29 and return to school for nursing. I know it's highly competitive and I'm actually aiming for an accelerated BSN program since I already hold a B.A. However, my cumulative GPA from undergrad (6-7 years ago) is below a 2.5. I'm trying desperately not to get my hopes down but is cumulative GPA that happened 6 years ago a huge factor in these schools? I'm currently taking my pre-req classes that i didn't take during my undergrad and I'm kicking ass in them. Would this help me in the end? Also, are alll schools requiring the ACT exam? I heard if you already have a B.A, you don't need to take the ACT exam is this true? Is anyone in the same boat as me? Any adivce?
