  1. I say don't lose hope unless your application status changes to "no longer under consideration"! Routing/interviewing can go through September for the October cohort, so if you're still under review it's okay ? there are a few more months of possibilities!
  2. Out of curiosity, where have you heard that those who haven't even started a preceptorship have been hired? The farthest I've seen anyone report so far has been a reference check...
  3. I'll have a preceptorship in July but haven't been placed yet! I'm currently in my last semester.
  4. I have not done my preceptorship yet but I had many clinical rotations at UCD ?
  5. I didn't put any hints or preferences in my CL -- I kept it open to anything. I also only did NICU during my OB rotation, so I'm not sure where I was routed to!
  6. My application is officially "routed for further consideration" as of today! I submitted 4/9 and switched to "under review" on 4/23. Has anyone actually emailed to see where they've been routed? Good luck everyone ?
  7. @Bubbles7 the CPR is valid for 2 years though – if you get it done now and you're in for the fall, great! if you have to wait until Spring, it's still good and you can use it then. you can get your vaccine records together and research loan options. as for the programs, they really don't take any time to sign up for. hell, you could even buy your shoes and scrubs now if you want – they don't expire!
  8. you can get started on a lot of this "crap" now...
  9. fall 2023 it depends on how much you've taken out in federal loans already. most qualify for ~20k through FAFSA, the rest is private or scholarships.
  10. I'm honestly not worried. every nurse I've spoken to has told me that nursing school (no matter where you go) just teaches you how to pass the NCLEX and you learn how to be a nurse on the job. so I'm paying for a one-year program that will get me to that point sooner than if I were to wait for the CC lottery and then a two year program. the nursing shortage is bad in california, so finding a job shouldn't be a problem. a few weeks of one-on-one isn't going to be the defining moment for your career. the pandemic obviously caused a lot of things to change, but I can't change anything about this program so I'm just going to make the most out of it. just learn everything you can during lecture/sims, show initiative during clinicals to get as much hands-on experience as possible, and pass the NCLEX. I understand that current students are frustrated, but these comments resurfacing the negativity seem so unnecessary right now as we've already covered this, we understand what we're signing up for, and we're now at the point where we're excited to get started. the fall 2022 cohort is almost done – just get through it and once you're working you can put this all behind you!
  11. the admitted student portal says it will be posted the following business day but I didn't get an email confirmation either
  12. during the q&a today, he said we should expect to hear back from either program by the end of this month ?
  13. I got one email in march when I submitted saying "we've received your application" and one in April letting me know they completed the preliminary review of my application and that it's moving on to the next step. nothing since then ?
  14. that's like two weeks before the start date though that makes no sense... ?
  15. @LeeroyJenkins that's my exact thought process too – I could wait however many years to get into the local city/state college program, then spend two years in school, THEN start working, or I can just suck it up and start working in a year, work like hell for a couple years to pay down the loans (and apparently get the experience I won't be getting at smu?) and THEN slow down and have a life again. all my nurse friends/family tell me that nursing school is just to pass the NCLEX and everything else comes from actually working in the field!
  16. hi all, I also applied to the sacramento campus. I'm going kinda crazy waiting for news (I received my preliminary review email on April 11 and nothing since) but I'm also now pretty nervous hearing all of this! I don't think I'd decline if offered admission as I don't have any other options for this term, but I'm definitely worried. has anyone already looked into financial aid options? are we just supposed to take out $100k in private loans?! the max federal amount is $12.5k and the scholarships I see are like, $2k at the most so it wouldn't make much of a difference...
