Hi, a few people have been accepted and registered for classes. I'm not aware of an "acceptance letter" per se. I just got an email saying a decision on my application had been made and went into my student portal and accepted the seat. It looks like this.

The drug test can't be any sooner than 30 days before the first day of class.

Thank you ? I wouldn't sweat too hard that you haven't gotten the acceptance yet. Looking at the enrollment for 101, only 15 people have signed up out of a possible 90. I wonder if they gave priority to people who applied in the past but didn't get in. I had originally applied for Spring but didn't get all my documents done in time.

Go out there and get it, I believe in you! Take advantage of the support that the college has, whether it be free therapy or nutrition, or academic support. Surround yourself with a community that believes in you and don't let anything stand in your way. You can do this. You WILL be an amazing nurse.

Unfortunately, they count your GPA from your coursework outside of CCC, even the classes that won't transfer. I was in your shoes when I started this journey two years ago, here is what I did. I took all the pre-requisite and co-requisite courses for the ADN program and all the pre-requisite courses for a BSN (CHEM201, CHEM212, MATH125, PSYCH201, PSYCH224 plus Anthropology and a fine arts class). I took 8 hours fall of '21, 8 hours Spring of '22, 11 hours last Summer, 19 hours last fall, and 18 hours this Spring. I got all As and raised my GPA from 1.7 in another school to 3.0 overall. It sucked, I had no social life, and all I did was study and work. But I have an amazing partner who supported me and I really, really want to be a nurse. You can do it, but you have to want it enough to go through hell to get it.

Do you have transcripts outside of CCC? I can give you recommendations for good professors if you want to retake some classes. It might be worth your while to take some of the co-reqs for the RN program, do really well in those and just go straight into RN.

There are only three total lecture sections for 101, you'll have people in your lecture that aren't part of your clinical/lab group.

Well if someone does have loans in default and they can get them cleared tomorrow and not put their spot in jeopardy, then that's probably information they should have. Keep being a sanctimonious jerk, though, I'm sure that will win people over.

Also, if you do have loans in default, you can get them out immediately without making any payments and be qualified for new student aid. All you have to do is call and ask to be put in the "Fresh Start" program and they email you a letter saying you're out of default. That program expires soon, though.

I was told the NSLDS is one of the databases that they check, they didn't say why they check it, but I can't think of any other reason.

No, it just means the checklist items are completed. It's my understanding they're still doing all the database searches.

So "possibly late this week, but more likely early next week". They've got to check off everyone who turned stuff in throught last Friday and then check everyone against the student loan database (apparently you can't be in the program if you're in default on a previous loan) and against another database that checks to see if you submitted transcripts from all the previous schools you attended. You'd think they would have done that already, but a lot of stuff over there doesn't make sense.

Haven't heard anything. My profile still says "viable candidate". I'm heading down to campus this afternoon to pick up an award and pester financial aid, I might stop in the office and ask them what's up.

Anyone want to take any bets as to how much longer this process will take?

I would keep pestering them until they update it to the correct status. I could give you three examples of gross incompetence at MXC in just the last week.

I think the TEAS is actually a bigger filter than we realize. I was looking at the percentile ranks for the minimum scores, which are actually at the 70th percentile. That means seven out of ten people who take it don't meet the minimum score, which is kind of heartbreaking when you think about it.
