  1. My best friend is enrolled at UAB PMHNP and the clinicals are the worst. She's studying easily 40-60 hrs a week between exams papers and posts. But she also has a class with her didactic and clinicals. She is unable to work the last three semesters at all. the worst thing is her preceptor and back up preceptor both had life events and now she is struggling to find another preceptor. If she doesn't find one she will have to sit out for an entire year and come back next Summer. It does not matter that her August preceptor is still scheduled. She has to stop for a year and pick back up next year. Zero exceptions Zero flexibility. Why I am trying hard to find a different program for me for the fall. So my advice is to have a back up preceptor to your back up. Academically the program is solid but not unreasonable. Instructors okay in her opinion. Except one ... always there is one for us all. Good luck.
  2. I am beginning Capella BSN in June I am a 30 year RN CCRN doing same. All of my credits transferred in and the staff for admissions have been wonderful. I will be completing full time and have transported 122 credit hours in and only have The nursing courses to complete. I have many friends and colleagues who have gone this route and competed in 3-6 months. Let me know which PMHNP program you select. I am looking at South College vs Saint Thomas University vs Purdue vs University of Alabama, which is the one of the best programs, academically, I have seen, although they are way less helpful and flexible with clinical preceptor assistance. My best friend is going there and it is very hard and she could not work her second semester at all. And may have to sit out a year until next Spring if she can not get another preceptor because her NP had to go on bedrest for medical reasons and finding a back up has been near impossible. The school does not care. She is devastated but still working like a dog to find another and then get them approved. It's awful. I have attended and know many MSN graduates from Chamberlain and they, as well as I, had a wonderful experience there. At 55, I would prefer not to be 50k to 75k dollars in student loan debt when finishing school. Cost alone is why I have not chosen them yet for my MSN and why I exited for the remaining portion of my BSN. If I can not find reliable information from previous students regarding the others then I will likely go back to Chamberlain for my PMHNP. Right now I'm researching them all. Most for profits are very good at recruiting however it seems by feedback that the support during your program is not as good. I felt Chamberlain supported me during the first portion of my BSN in all ways. The professors were professional and provided excellent feedback and instruction for improvement. Good Luck to you and let me know what you decide for your PMHNP.
