Mental Health/Psych Nurse Practitioner
Peaceful, I would love to have more info on your school and this program. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I am just starting to explore different options. Thank you! Amy

The Secret Hospital
I was able to contact the Programme Sales division of ITV and they agreed to make a copy available for purchase for the purpose of training and education. The cost is 118 pounds (which I think is about 185 US dollars), per each 60 min. episode. That is a bit steep for me. I would love it if we could pull a bunch of us together to buy them:) Still very expensive, however. If some of you have access to education funding you could buy them. I wish they were more easily accessible. If anyone has any ideas I am open to them! Amy

The Secret Hospital
Thanks Joe. Can't say I'll be heading to London anytime soon, but I do appreciate the info. It is a little frustrating that in this day and age of being able to buy and view so much online that this one is so difficult to get a hold of. Amy

Outdoor time?
We do not have the level system you are speaking of but I think something like that sounds great! If you can provide more specific info on the criteria you use to determine levels I would appreciate it. Another difficulty we have is perhaps access to a playground area but I know there are at least some open area to kick a ball , jump rope or run around. I would like to encourage the development of at least a small fenced play area. I am open to any and all ideas to encourage these kids to progress, give them some reward for "working" their program. I feel like things need to be more clear-cut for these kids so they are clear on expectations and then rewarded when the expectations are met. Thanks and keep the info coming!

Outdoor time?
I am a new nurse on a child/adolescent unit. Our unit is SUPPOSED to be acute care but some of the kids have been there 30-60 days awaiting placement. Our unit is fairly small from and these kids rarely, if ever, get to go outdoors or run around a gym, etc. I think it would do a world of good for these kids to get some outdoor play time at least every other day. What do YOU do on your units? What kinds of facilities do you have access to? These poor kids are bored with movies and the same old card games. HELP! I want your ideas and thoughts! Thank you! Amy

Assault on unit
This particular patient assaulted two different patients. The police came to basically file a report from what I understand since the patients families wanted to press charges. I was told they could not take the patient into custody unless it was a felony assault. Thank you all for your input!!

Assault on unit
I am just starting on a child/adol unit and have a question. We have one patient who in the two days I was there assaulted two patients ( two separate occasions--police called and came) and fled the unit (another occasion and sceurity was called to get him back on the unit). Do you all keep this type of patient on your unit? I am fine with this during the day when there are a million staff around but worry since I will be working weekend evenings with much fewer resources. We do have security available at the push of a button but a lot can happen in just a very few seconds. Thoughts please?? Thanks! Amy

New Psych RN
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I will not start on the unit for a couple of weeks as I will be doing the hospital orientation first. I will be working Sat and Sun evenings--probabaly when resources like therapists are in short supply. I will be responsible for doing small groups and am looking for some resources for that as well as general info on childhood behavioral disorders. Does your unit have a "plan" for dealing with particular children or disorders?

Home Infusion Per Diem
Hi, I am considering a per diem position with a home infusion company that also has an infusion center. I would like to hear about a "typical" day from experienced infusion nurses. Also looking at pay in midwest area? Pros and cons of this type of nursing? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide. Amy
