  1. The NCBON told me there are no specific quantity of hours just evidence of hours in each speciality. E.g. For my assessment I had 5 hours in theoretical obs/gyn and 30hr clinical and it was still fine so definitely email the BON and find out whether the same for your intended state. One important thing for NCBON, you have to have a SSN before you can apply for NCLEX testing. Im a new green card holder already in NC. So its not like Texas and I think NY where you can apply without a SSN.
  2. Yes! I used IEE for the NCBON and I was completely evaluated in 5 days. The evaluation companies you are able to use will be detailed on the states BON website. Most will have CGFNS along with another option so once you decide which state you're going to apply to check their website
  3. They are both compact states so you can apply to get your licence transferred, but there is always the risk that the Texas BON will ask for an evaluation aswell. However I don't know how likely or unlikey that is unfortunately. You do need a SSN to get a nursing licence in NC, I don't know if that's an issue for you.
  4. NCBON only allow you to use either CGFNS or IEE. IEE is a Charlotte, NC based academic evaluator. They cost $250 for the nursing evaluation and allow the university to email the transcript and required evaluation directly. So no getting lost in the post. They promise 3-5 days for evaluation after receiving details from the university. Mine took 5 days including the two day weekend so great service. I had no follow ups or question and was emailed a copy of the evaluation for an extra $20. Just for a bit more background I'm based in NC on a green card so I am very fortunate and I was also lucky to have a placement in an OBS/GYN ward (not by my choosing) so that helped alot for my clinical hours.
  5. So I thought I would add my journey to give hope to those who are going through or are about to go through this process. I am a UK trained Adult nurse, but my credentials were accepted by the NCBON. Im am now going through the background check. At the end of the day it comes down to how your transcript is compiled by your university and presented to the evaluation service as well as what placements you did. The BON will dictacte if there is a hours requirement for each speciality, for the NCBON when I spoke to them prior to getting evaluated they stated there was no minimum only that hours were present in each speciality. However every BON is different so email and probe get as much details as possible. This is the most important step. When it comes to getting your transcript evaluated every hour counts. I spent 2 days back and forth emailing the university nursing cohort admin assistant about how to fill in the hours on the form stipulate that if you did placements in any of the specialities even for a day/ half a day you want those hours included. If your placement covered those speciality patients you want hours included. If you had lectures and those specialities were partially covered you want the hours, that sort of detail will make the difference. Your university needs to do a bit digging to find all this but its worth it. The biggest challenges will be OBS/GYN and PEDs but depending on your uni you covered more than you think At the end of the day the uni isn't gonna lie for you so just work on getting as much as you can then apply to the BON and go from there. For credential evaluators we did not use the CGFNS reviews are bad and they take a LONGGGG time. NCBON offers another evaluator who was cheaper and only took 5 days to evaluate. However again I was detailed in asking what is allowed to be included by the university to help direct the evaluation.
