  1. The Emory DABSN program is not worth the price tag. My advice is to find a more affordable (accredited) program. Nursing school doesn't prepare you to be a nurse. It prepares you to take the NCLEX, and you learn how to be a nurse on the job. Emory won't make you better prepared -- it will just take more of your money. I was honestly less prepared than people from less prestigious programs because the DABSN program doesn't let you see the specialties. They make you do all of your clinicals in med-surg because it's easier for them to arrange. They say that if you can do med-surg, you can do anything. That's just not true or helpful to people trying to find their niche in the nursing world. It also makes it very difficult to get a job in a specialty after graduating because you won't have any experience -- I graduated without stepping foot in an ICU or ER. And don't expect this program to be flexible if you have childcare needs.
  2. BE WARNED: you will be stuck in med surg for your clinical hours. There is no rotation to any other specialties. If you have a bad preceptor, you are stuck. If you have young children, this program is not for you. They are very inflexible and the director of the program is a bully. Many people fail the first semester. It's not worth the money. Find a program that is more supportive. Their testing method is also insane -- ask how they deal with online testing. Ask what happens to you if you need time off for an emergency. They just want your $$$$.
