I can tell you about King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and its smaller satellite hospital King Fahd Childrens Cancer Centre in saudi, and Al Ahli hospital in qatar Saudi - you have to be offered a aposition before you can get a visa to enter the country, so you should go through an agency in your country. The benefits are no tax on your income, free power, local telephone, free furnished accommodation and access to internet. Transportation is free between hospitals, and taxis are cheap. 12 hour shifts.....yeeha! About 56 days leave a year which you can take after 3 months. The down side is you are expected to cover with an abaya from neck to feet, and you cant drive. also if you arrive in summer it is over 50 degrees so there is a little acclimitisation (cant spell sorry!) There is a saudi council, but easy to sign up. all in all I loved working in saudi! and the pay is around 12-13,000 saudi riyals a month for a 5 year post grad. Qatar - free accommodation, access to internet. you pay power, telephone, transport etc. 8 hour shifts, unless negotiated in your contract otherwise. huge hassle to be registered with their nursing council, the hospital tries to help you as much as they can to make it easier. need to have documents sighted at your embassy and ministry of foreign affairs , takes time. I think about 40 days leave. You can drive, dress code is a little less strict, ie you can wear what you are comfortable in..... hope this helps :)

I would love to say I had never noticed the problem, but....... most are great, but there are a few (and some are really bad!) luckily there are seperate female/male changing rooms, but then the challenges would just become about something else. funnily enough we have one anaesthetic consultant (woman) who does it to the guys.... people are so complicated.........

I have found your advice invalueable.... in response to the "find a job that suits your religion" person, I am really happy to say my employers have been fantastic with me about my needs, and have agreed to source disposable headwear similar to the mens full helmets, but with extra material covering the "v" in our scrub shirts. If anyone else is looking, found great reference articles in AORN about recommendations around personally owned cloth hats! So yay for open dialogue, and getting a result everyone can be happy with! Hi Everybody, hope someone can help, or point me in the right direction! :) I am a Muslim woman who has started working in a new zealand operating theatre. I prefer to cover everything but my hands and face, and I ensure I can roll up my sleeves while working. My dilemma is, our disposable hats do not cover me as much as I want, and our anaesthatists wear their own headwear.... Does anyone know where I can find evidence of best practise about infection rates in OR related to headwear? Would dedicated headwear from home be enough? What do other muslim women do? If you could help me out I would really appreciate it! Thanks:)
