  1. thanks collieter3 I may just look into those companies and see where they place me! It will be easier than calling every company. thanks for the info! Mimi1
  2. Caliotter3, Thanks for your input. I actually was not as interested in shift work as i am in visiting nursing or skilled nursing. Do you know, is it difficult to find work as a visiting nurse in peds? Thanks a lot for your input! Mimi1
  3. Thanks for your replies! I was so hoping I wouldnt have to do as many weekends. But I guess it comes with the territory. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks a lot for the response! I just moved to Maryland and do not know a thing about the hospitals or HH companies. I really do not know too many people to get references for HH companies. I am wondering if I should just take the plunge at an HH company that seems to meet my criteria, or if I should go back to working at a hospital or clinic until I make some more connections! Any advice?
  5. Do you have to work weekends and holidays at most home health companies? What is the norm? Do you usually have to work every other or every third? How many holidays a year? Is there such thing as no weekends and holidays as a hh nurse? Thanks! mimi1
  6. Hey, does any one know if there is a way to research HH companies, to see how they work, how they treat their nurses, how many pts you have and what their turnover rate is? It it only word of mouth? or is there a way to check up on the companies before you interview?
  7. thanks a lot for the reply! those are great questions and I appreciate it! Good luck on your interview. If you come across any other words of advice or any ideas of good ways to research and find reputable companies I am all ears. Thanks a lot! Mimi1
  8. First I want to say thanks for the very helpful threads about a day in Home health. I am switching to home health and the information about a regular day in home health is very helpful! Few questions- anyone who has any insights are much appreciated! I've never done home health care nursing. I have been a pediatric staff nurse at hospitals for the last ~7 years. Was also thinking about doing Adult med surg home care. Is it a better idea to start as pediatric HHN and then get trained as adult HHN once I have an idea of HHN? Also, what is important information to learn when going on interviews at HH companies? What questions should I be asking at the interviews? What is the best way to search for a job in HH? I am new to MD and dont really know the health systems here or HH companies. Thanks a lot! Would love some feedback! Mimi1:lol2:
