  1. I am have been accepted into a 12 month ABSN program in the Spring. I am currently talking pathophysiology (a watered down version that I understand is probably not as hard as the one they will have in the program) at a local community college to help prepare myself for the upcoming semester. I took medical terminology this last Summer and physiology this last Spring. I am also memorizing medical abbreviations and dosage calculations, because I had seen someone on Youtube recommend to do that. Things such as qid, bid, PRN and so forth. I do look over drugs classes as well. Any other recommendations for studying? I want to prepare myself adequately. I will be spending around 65k to attend the school including housing and don’t want to make sure I don’t waste any time. I see a lot of horror stories of people getting dropped halfway through an ABSN because of being unprepared, so I really want to give myself a fighting chance at this point
  2. I have a link to a fb page I made for the Spring cohort. Anyone who sees, you’re welcome to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/1280901586072166/?ref=share
  3. california applicant here. I applied and got a school id back in my email today. It says on my portal to enter my prerequisite grade information to complete my application. I have mostly A’s and then some B’s for my prerequisites. Tbh my overall GPA is kinda bad though at like 2.9, and there was a point in my education where I didn’t give bullocks and a few semesters was D’s and withdrawals. I seen an earlier post where someone actually got in with that same GPA just because the school has such a monstrous class size and can accept so many students. Im hoping they offer some good financial aid so I can attend the school. 120k plus without any kind of aid is kinda steep if you include housing and tuition together plus you still gotta feed yourself for the 16 months fuhh. If I gotta pay full ticket price im prob just gonna go to mercy college of health sciences in iowa cus the tuition and living expenses are low, and I can probably get out with around 65k total and not put myself in student loan purgatory. I do like nyu though. It has a high rank among nursing schools and id love to live in new york if its within my means. Im currently taking pathophysiology and already took medical terminology this past Summer at a local community college, so I feel like il have a good headstart wherever I go.
  4. I also have some questions about what you said about cedar rapids. I googled it and can’t find mchs in that city. Is that a new extension campus they are opening?
  5. Hello, My name is Aaron. Anybody else applied for the Spring cohort? I just heard back from the school and they told me they have been granted general admission into the school, but am waiting for them to admit me specifically into the program. I also applied to NYU but will most likely attend this school because the tuition is less and living expenses for 12 months in Iowa is not going to cost me an arm and a leg in student loans. I've heard some mixed reviews about the ABSN program online at various websites. Most people say positive things but I see some saying that the school is disorganized with clinicals and lectures. I also see some people say it is difficult to seek help from instructors at times. To be honest, for a 12 month ABSN, I expect things to get crazy in terms of work load, as long as it is things I can control. I am currently taking pathophysiology (which is one of the first classes taken when starting the program) and already took medical terminology in the Summer. I feel somewhat prepared coming into program. Anyone who also applied, and plans on attending, lets make a discord or group page to squad up for the semester!
