Thank you RegalNurse, honestly comments like these mean so much, especially in this uncertain transitional time, also providing real anecdotal experience of navigating the process. There just isn't anyone out there to ask about these things besides lawyers with a 200$ paywall to ask advice from. The truth is I definitely still have some shame and I'm working through it but I'm also really proud of the person I am and I have gained so much more than just recovery from substances on this journey. It's good to know that applying to a new state license won't write a new blurb about your discipline or re-discipline you. Thanks again, it means the world.

Correct, I had a discipline order of probation, which is now over and my license says active, still has the history of discipline on it though. My question is about applying to a new state license with the history of discipline on my record and what experience if any anyone might have with that process and the outcomes.

Hi everyone, I was on probation for diversion in Oregon and just recently finished my 2 year probation with no snags, I have documented sobriety for over 4 years now. I am seeing online all of this stuff about reciprocal discipline when applying for a new license in another state. Basically it says that the new state can just put you back on probation despite the fact that you have already finished your probation in the original state. Does anyone have any experience applying to licenses in other states after they have had discipline or more specifically probation that is finished? any and all responses would be so helpful. I know I messed up big time but I've been trying in every way I know how to make it right these past four years.

That’s awesome, did you need a nursing license to do that? I have actually considered coding as a second career already but decided to wait until I get a decision to invest in it. Teaching myself basics through some online free coding courses right now though. Is it okay if I message you directly?

Hi I am currently in the early stages of a diversion investigation, I admitted to diverting 1 medication during hospital interview but haven’t been officially served with my board complaint letter (it’s been 4 months). I am wrecked with anxiety all day every day waiting for the hammer to drop. I have an health care licensure attorney who has been advising me during the process (only after hospital meeting though). I have scoured the board website for my state to see similar disciplinary actions of other nurses. Most of what I see is voluntary surrender for cases of diversion. Is this because they were basically forced for voluntary surrender in lieu of revocation? Does anyone have any experience trying to find a job in another field after their license has been surrendered or revoked? Will it always appear on a background check? I entered into a voluntary testing program to show my sobriety for the past four months but that is pretty much all I have going for me. I hate myself so much for letting my addiction affect my practice. Thanks in advance for any advice.
