Preparing for the SEE, NCE.
Thanks for replying!! I like Apex a lot, especially for understanding concepts. I just need to get into the mindset of using only one source when it comes to review material. I was under the impression and specifically related to the SEE, that I needed to go over a wide range of questions, which I know that Prodigy has a ton of them in its test bank.

Preparing for the SEE, NCE.
Hello SRNAs, future CRNAs!!I was wondering if anyone, please!!!, would be kind, willing enough, to share "if you have it," your online Prodigy anesthesia review. Also, any of the Core Concepts (all paperback) 3 comprehensive exams and 9 topic-specific exams. Just trying to keep it real and transparent, here. "Ain't" going to lie. Because my program does not invest in purchasing any form of anesthesia review, I have had to purchase the bigger and more reliable review systems out there: Apex and Valley/Memory Master. I don't want to spend any more money than what I have to, especially I, and just like you all, have to pay for each SEE and then eventually for the NCE boards. My reasoning for wanting to use Prodigy and Core Concepts is to test on a grand multiple number of practice test questions. I take my first SEE in February, and I graduate this December 2018.If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks a bunch, and take care!!😊ðŸ™

Shadowing a CRNA: what questions to ask?
Before I shadow a CRNA, what questions can I ask the CRNA and what questions will the CRNA expect me to ask?? I've been told by a 5-year experienced CRNA and one who graduated last December '06 that shadowing a CRNA one time is sufficient. Also, is it advisable to shadow a MD anesthesiologist?

ADVICE NEEDED: Switching jobs 3 months before applying for JAN '08 class
Thanks japaho41 for responding. Your response was inspiring. I know that I am far from opposite the travel nurse with multiple experience, but I am hopeful that this one-time change to a higher-acuity ICU will make me appear just as competitive in my candidacy to NA school. I live in Stallings, NC, just outside of Charlotte/Matthews, NC, but currently work in Lancaster, SC. If I were to start the new job, I see the challenges of telling my future plans to attend NA school and getting the recommendation from the most current supervisor. However, I have gained the confidence of my current (soon-to-be-former) supervisor of getting her rec., even if I left to work elsewhere. The other two rec.'s will be obtained from former nursing instructor and either a CRNA or anesthesiologist from "shadowing." I noticed from your profile that you are from Greenville, NC. Did you apply to Carolinas Healthcare System/UNC-Charlotte's NA program or know anything about its application/admission process? This is where I am applying for JAN. 2008. Congratulations for GETTING IN, and good luck in school.:)

ADVICE NEEDED: Switching jobs 3 months before applying for JAN '08 class
Thanks Yanka12 for responding. After some soul-searching, I have determined that I want to make this switch in jobs. I have an interview with the ICU nurse manager next week, on Thursday, April 12. Hopefully, this move will ultimately be beneficial in applying to NA school. Good luck in your NA program. :)

ADVICE NEEDED: Switching jobs 3 months before applying for JAN '08 class
I am applying for a job in ICU in another hospital that has a higher acuity, i.e., more hemodynamics and invasive procedures. Currently, I work in CCU at a smaller hospital that is "community-based," where in 3 years I have gotten a firm foundation of critical-care nursing, i.e., titration of vasoactive drips and management of ventilated patients. Planning to apply for the JAN 2008 class, as I send my application materials this July '07, I want to know if its OK...appropriate...or not... to go from one job to another. I would like to know how the Admissions committee would perceive this. My reason for the change is basically the "distance" that I've been traveling: 40 miles one-way and 50 minutes versus 18 miles one-way and 30 minutes. My supervisor from current job is understanding and is still willing to give me a good recommendation for nurse anesthesia school.

3 Letters of Reference for NA Program?
Thanks for the advice. My immediate supervisor and former professor will be the two RN's I will use for reference. And for the 3rd, which could be any one, I will consider a CRNA to give me reference, possibly the one I plan to shadow.

3 Letters of Reference for NA Program?
Sorry for the confusion. CLARIFICATION: 3 references are needed, and of the 3, two must be from RN's--which are my immediate supervisor and former professor. I actually like the idea and will now consider another nurse, i.e., CRNA I plan to shadow, as the 3rd reference, instead of a doctor. Thanks for the advice.

3 Letters of Reference for NA Program?
I am applying to a NA program which requires 3 letters of reference in its application: two must be from RN's and one must be from an immediate supervisor. Please give me suggestions or tell me if what I have "so far" is adequate. 1st: Immediate supervisor and director of CCU 2nd: Former professor of pathopharmacology (Ph.D. Nursing), who taught at National Institute of Health. I got an "A" in the class and received "honors" credit 3rd: Physician who knows how I work and care for his patients in CCU As for the "physician," is it more appropriate to ask a recommendation from a cardiologist or pulmonologist?
