  1. No. I went to that ELMSN program. Misericordia didn't recognize several of my prereqs for some reason. Think I mentioned this in an earlier thread. I had literally just taken statistics, human development, and nutrition at an accredited community college and had a 4.0. The advisor at miseri said that the classes wouldn't be honored and I needed to retake them at miseri. I implored them to tell me why, asked to review the syllabi for the classes (they never supplied them for review), ultimately they had no valid answer and just said I could take them again online through them. The only thing I could think of was it must be a revenue generator to make people retake classes. I also learned that their satellite ABSN is in an office park by the PGH airport and they don't have a campus in the Pittsburgh area. The whole process with them not accepting valid credits, being somewhat misled about their campus location, and hearing some stories from unsatisfied students made me look elsewhere. If you already have a bachelors degree look at La Roche University. They offer an accelerated entry level master of nursing program that is 20 months. It's easier to get financial aid for grad school if you already pegged it for undergrad. They have a lovey campus just north of Pittsburgh and you end up with a masters degree for about the same price as an ABSN.
  2. @MamaTryin2bNP thanks for posting something else about the program here! Glad to hear it’s manageable. It’s supposed to be very challenging! you say the second semester seems easier but its overwhelming? Im new to the med field but spoke w an instructor there and she advised I get a pharmacology book and get acquainted which I am. Any other advise for us about to enter? Every bit of info is appreciated. would be awesome to meet in person. Moving to pitt in a couple weeks. thanks again, luke [email protected]
  3. Hey sophia, I tell you it hard to get anyone to respond from this platform. I’m getting set to go to La Roche for ELMSN in January. Not much info out there. I did speak to a couple students. One had dropped after a couple months because the program was too overwhelming for them and another who said it’s manageable. I guess the first semester all classes but one are on campus with one online. I was told to expect to be on campus about half days first semester. I also spoke with an instructor of fundamentals and she said that it’s definitely tough but manageable. Just do everything exactly as they say and all will be OK. Other than that not much info aside from what comes from the advisor (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and they are helpful but have a basic understanding of the program. Good luck. I’ll be happy to tell you more if I get through all the checks and get going in January.
  4. Hi Cel0424, thanks for reaching out! We were almost classmates! The credit transfer was very weird. I just took Microbiology and nutrition in the last 6 months. I couldn’t get any info why the classes I took wouldn’t be accepted at all. I believe they are trying to set everyone up to succeed in their program but I’m very curious what extra info their ansynchronous micro and nutrition class have that mine didn’t. LOL! No answers. Oh well! Seems like biostats should have worked too. As long as it hit on some standard deviation, hypothesis testing, standard distributions, probability and confidence intervals what’s the dif? But hey, it’s the way they do it I guess. I applied to some other schools in Pitt at the same time and ended up choosing to go to La Roche’s accelerated MSN program. 20 months instead of 16. Same price. Exit with MSN. I’m looking forward to the move to Pitt! I hope miseri works out for you. I did speak with one of the directors and instructor for the program and she sounded very legit and no nonsense. im certainly interested to see what it’s like. If you ever feel like chatting more or even meeting up sometime with my partner and I for coffee and commiseration that would be awesome! She’s a nurse, went to Duquesne about 5 years ago and is going to be working at the VA- good resource. my email is [email protected] Ever onward and much success, Luke
  5. @RobertG how is the La Roche ELMSN going so far? Any words of wisdom?
  6. After being accepted by Miseri’s Pittsburgh ABSN program days after applying in June 2022 an advisor has just told me end of September 2022. I would need to retake classes I have just taken at an accredited college to attend their new satellite program. They said I need to retake Microbiology and nutrition which I literally just took in 2022 without any explanation why my credits from an accredited college would not count for their program. They also wanted me to retake a 100 level sociology class which I have taken several of in my college career. Nothing like a modern sociology 100 level redundant class to help in a nursing career! LOL! They suggested I retake the courses with them online asynchronously so I could attend their online ABSN program. I asked why the credits I just earned for those classes earlier this year at an accredited college wouldn’t work there and there was no explanation given. None. Very strange. I tried for a long time to get any students current or past to speak of the program and couldn’t find one person. Nor was the advisor able to provide anyone to speak with. I was accepted to other nursing programs in the Pittsburgh area and have chosen to attend one of them as the accreditation processes were timely and seamless with all of them and there wasn’t confusion on the institutions’ behalf. They must have a very specific curriculum unlike any other accredited school’s. Working with them was a very unclear and protracted process and the advisor I spoke with was rather uninformed about any metrics regarding NCLEX pass rates, attrition rate, accreditation models and institutional characteristics. I would suggest to potential nursing student to be wary of going down the admissions process with Misericordia. Given the Pittsburgh satellite ABSN program is rather new and perhaps there are lots of kinks still being worked out. There are lots of nursing programs in the Pittsburgh area and my partner nor I have had any issues with simple things like accreditation at any others. Good luck!
  7. Any other misericordia ABSN students out there hiding? So hard to get real info on this program! Please reach out! [email protected]
  8. Hi, can any current student of La Roche ELMSN program please reach out to share their experience? It’s so hard to get any real info on this program. I would be so thankful for any insight. I just applied for a Jan.2023 start. my contact : [email protected]
  9. Hi can anyone attending the La Roche ELMSN program please reach out to me. I’m weighing going there of an ABSN program. Thinking of a January start- Just applied and would really appreciate if anyone with some inside knowledge of the program would be willing to share. I will Venmo money for coffee for your time! My email is [email protected] many thanks!
  10. Hi, I got accepted into misericordia ABSN for Spring 2023. Application process was strangely easy. I can’t find any info or reviews about the program anywhere. The advisor I’ve been working with can’t give me any metrics about acceptance rate, graduation rate, NCLEX pass rate or connect me with anyone to speak about program outcome and experience. I am curious if anyone has heard or knows anything about it good or bad. It’s also over 60k! Yikes Found out about Larouche Direct MSN entry today and have been trying to get more info about it and experiences from anywhere me attending or graduated. Any info much appreciated! -Luke
  11. Wow! Thanks for the info. I’ve been a little concerned about the program. I literally can’t find anyone who has been through it or are in it. I sent the critique here to the advisor there I have for clarification. who in this thread is attending or plan to attend? We need to commiserate! My email is [email protected] anyone else out there with any experience with misericordia ABSN please reach out! thanks!
  12. Hi, I’ve been accepted to the Spring 2023 cohort. I’ve really searched high and low for anything or anyone to speak about their experience with the new Pittsburgh ABSN program and there isn’t much out there. Anyone have any input about the program? Current or former students? Educators? Thanks! Luke
